A Review of McCain's "Waterloo" (with poll)

Sun Oct 26, 2008 at 09:29:09 AM PST

I just finished watching Meet The Press this morning, which took place in Waterloo, Iowa.  Frankly, I had some trepedation about how this would go, given that Tom Brokaw is not the most likely interviewer to give McCain a tough time.  Below the fold, I will give you my review of this interview.  Simply put, I think it was McCain's "Waterloo".  Read on...

O'Bush and McDifferent? (with poll)

Thu Sep 25, 2008 at 10:05:13 PM PST

I am a hedge fund manager and former Wall Street Analyst who has been following this credit crisis very closely.  As an Obama supporter, I think he has handled this situation very well.  He has been calm, balanced, and presidential.

Unfortunately, none of that "high-mindedness" may matter.  I happen to think the credit crisis, and the Paulson bailout plan, is the dirtiest of dirty political tricks.  Please follow my logic under the fold....

Taking McCain sleaze VIRAL.....

Thu Sep 11, 2008 at 10:32:59 AM PST

I've had it up to about HERE (pointing to my eyeballs) with the sleaze, lies, and dishonesty peddled by the McCain campaign.  I know most of you feel the same way.  They are feeling pretty full of themeselves these days due to the closing of the polls after their convention and Palin's rollout.

SO full of themselves, that they have hubris and are now OVER-stepping the bounds of decency in their attacks on Obama.  With yesterday's "Lipstick faux-controversy", I decided I have had about enough.  So I decided to DO something about this.  See what I did below the fold...

Obama "Dream" Press Release about Palin Speech....

Wed Sep 03, 2008 at 11:33:36 PM PST

After listening and watching the superficial and highly scripted Palin speech tonight, which predictably was lauded by the MSM as a "homerun", or "even possibly a grand slam" by the likes of Wolf Blitzer, I am imagining a press release or public statement by Barack Obama in response to it.  Below the fold, please read my "dream" press release that I would hope the Obama campaign could approach...

Attack Palin on MERITS, not looks or sex....

Sat Aug 30, 2008 at 03:45:06 PM PST

Like most of you, I have a bit of information overload the past 24 hours in learning all I can about Sarah Palin, why McCain may have picked her, and her qualifications, if any.  It has also been fascinating reading the Kossacks' reaction to the pick, but also a bit disturbing.  Let me explain after the fold.....

Let's see a DailyKos convention guide!

Tue Aug 12, 2008 at 11:46:51 AM PST

I live in Denver, so it goes without saying that I'm excited about the upcoming convention in two weeks.  Even though I work full time managing a portfolio for a small partnership, my plan is to take as much time away from the office as possible to take in the activities around downtown.

Who should succeed Tim Russert?

Tue Jun 17, 2008 at 05:10:36 PM PST

Now that we have mourned the all-too-early loss of Tim Russert, we need to think about what would be the best course for NBC News in picking his replacement on Meet The Press.

This could be used as an OPPORTUNITY by NBC to enhance the journalistic standards of their news division.  Not saying that Russert didn't have good standsrds.  He certainly did, and had a well-earned reputation.  However, the problem with MTP in recent years is that it was too (for lack of a better term) "elitist".

What Hath Hillary Wrought?

By not conceding the nomination to Obama Tuesday night, Hillary has just doused more gasoline on the fire of her inflamed supporters.  Get a load of this:

PROPAGANDISTS, not "pundits".....

Tue May 06, 2008 at 11:05:13 AM PST

I was very happy to see Senator Kerry spearhead an effort to delve into what he calls the "Pentagon Pundit Program", and I highly recommend that you read his diary.

While I signed the Senator's letter in response to his e-mail yesterday, his term "pundits" in describing these military analysts, though, it too kind.

They were propagandists, plain and simple.  This should be called the "Pentagon Propaganda scandal", not the "Pentagon Pundit program".  Actually, it's as much of a media scandal as a pentagon scandal.

Judgment, Schmudgment!

Mon May 05, 2008 at 04:57:54 PM PST

Several times in the past week, I have heard MSM talking heads calling into question Obama's "judgment" in not recognizing Rev. Wright's supposed poor character, saying he is open to such criticism since he admits he may not have known Wright as well as he previously thought.  Clinton surrogate Lanny Davis on CNN was really pushing this point hard last week.

Just today, Matt Lauer brought up the judgment issue with Obama during the interview in which Barack mistakenly kept referring to Matt as "Tim".  Obviously, Obama is so tired of this issue, he is having trouble keeping names straight!

Excuse me, but having good judgment about your church's pastor isn't QUITE as important as having good judgment about matters of war and peace, where lives are involved, where the national treasury is involved, where our credibility and prestige around the world are at stake, and where our nation's best interests are at stake.

The USA's Immoral Spending Habits

Sat Jul 21, 2007 at 10:26:16 PM PST

This is my first Diary Entry, and I hope you find it to be worthwhile reading.  I have been disturbed by the direction of this country for some time, and have been doing lots of reading and thinking lately. You see, I grew up in the liberal bastion of Northern California, became more moderate as I became an adult and had some career success, and now that we've gone through a 6-year tragedy known as the Bush administration, I have returned somewhat to my liberal roots.  Now, after all the reading and all the thinking, I have something to say....
