I have written a lot about the airline’s marketing blunders (see previous posts). Now, its time to give theme some credit….They have finally figured out that their airplanes can be used as additional income sources.
How? By selling advertising on the airplane’s “real estate”. The airlines have begun selling advertising on tray tables and barf bags. This is a good idea if it leads to better prices for the travelors! They should not stop now!
By not selling the biggest peice of real estate they own, they are missing the boat on this one….They need to sell advertsising on the outside of the airplanes themselves! While no one would see the advertisements at 30,000 feet, a lot of people would see the ads at the airports!
The FAA reports that they estimate the number of air travelors in 2015 will be 1 BILLION! My message to American, Unites, Southwest, and all the others…send me my 15% commission for the idea via wire please.
