Muhammad Yunus

Muhammad Yunus book: Creating a World Without Poverty

We were thrilled to bring Muhammad Yunus, winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, to Bristol on Sunday, February 17.

His visit to the UK marked the publication of a truly important new book: Creating a World Without Poverty in which Yunus envisages a future in which business could make a serious contribution to ending poverty.

Yunus has done as much as anyone on the planet to further this aim since inventing the field of microcredit with the founding of the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh 30 years ago. Having seen micro-lending banks established in over 100 countries, lending to 100 million families, he is now on a mission to see that 'social business' - business designed to meet a social rather than a financial goal - becomes the next global development.
