Cleveland police say a 54-year-old Cleveland man was killed this morning when his car hit a house at Wade Park and East 118th St. They have not released his name.
Lt. Tom Stacho, department spokesman, said the accident happened at 12:30 a.m. when the driver, Ricky Davis, in a 1996 Ford Contour, failed to turn left or right at the T intersection and instead "plowed through a fence and then struck a house occupied by an elderly couple."
The driver was thrown partly out of the window of his vehicle. He died at the scene. No one else was hurt.
Stacho said officers found open and unopened cans of beer in the car, and that the man had been arrested Oct. 2 on a DUI charge. His license had been suspended.
Stacho said the city has had 47 fatal crashes so far this year, up from 35 at this point in 2007.
The State Highway Patrol said there were 11 traffic fatalities on Ohio roads during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
That's the fewest deaths since Thanksgiving 2001, when there were 10 traffic fatalities. There were 17 traffic deaths last Thanksgiving.
Troopers arrested 501 motorists for drunken driving and assisted 3,741 motorists during the holiday weekend this year.
The maximum sentence would have been 7 years in prison. George pleaded guilty Oct. 24.
Prosecutors said George was driving Dec. 20 with a suspended license. At St. Clair Avenue and East 55th Street, she struck another car, killing Sheena Green, her front-seat passenger, and injuring the other driver.

STOW -- Police are asking for help to locate a driver who left the scene of a fatal crash Friday.
Officers were called at 8:21 p.m. to Ohio 8 south, near the Steels Corners exit. They found a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer off the right side of the road. The driver, Dale W. Collins, 59, of Cuyahoga Falls, was pronounced dead at 8:54 p.m. at Akron City Hospital.
Witnesses said Collins had been driving south in the left lane when a vehicle entering the highway sideswiped the right side of his car. Collins lost control and struck a water truck that was parked in a construction zone. Two of the road's three lanes were closed. Collins' car bounced off the trailer and rolled into the grass.
The suspect may have been driving a GMC or a Ford Escape that could have the Lancer's red paint on it, Lt. Rick Myers said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 330-689-5700.
The two police officers chasing them were injured pulling the men from the burning wreckage.
The short chase began about 12:20 a.m. at East 79th Street and Buckeye Road, where patrolmen ran a license plate and learned the car was stolen on Oct. 30 from a used car lot at West 51st Street and Lorain Avenue.
The driver, Darnell Carpenter, 30, lost control at East 83rd Street and Euclid Avenue. The car crashed into a pole and started on fire. Carpenter died at Huron Hospital in East Cleveland. The 17-year-old passenger is at MetroHealth Medical Center.
Two officers were treated for smoke inhalation.
Police found a sawed-off shotgun and masks in the car, Lt. Thomas Stacho said.

Steven Hartleben was transported to Akron City Hospital where he died Thursday afternoon.
Hartleben was driving east bound on Back-Massillon Road when his sport-utility vehicle was struck by a car driven by Sallie Morton, 61, of Wooster. Morton had been traveling south bound on Fox Lane Road and had just pulled off from a stop sign before impact.
Hartleben attempted to avoid the crash and went off the side of the road. His car turned over multiple times before coming to a rest upright in a field.
Morton was taken to Dunlap Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
This is the eleventh fatal crash in Wayne County this year.
Jordan Gonzalez was driving a 2008 Nissan and slammed into a pole at Detroit and Canterbury roads. She was taken to Fairview General Hospital, where she died.
Gonzalez was not wearing a seat belt, and alcohol appears to be a factor, Capt. Guy Turner said.
She had been in Cleveland and friends drove her to her Windsong Court home. She began arguing with them. They tried to wake up a parent. She got into her Nissan and drove away, Turner said.
"The friends went to look for her and discovered the crash," he said.

Krakora lost control of his Dodge Neon on Capel, west of Ohio 83. The car, heading east, went off the right side of the road, through a yard, partially rolled and slammed into a tree. The car was torn into three pieces. The boys were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lorain County coroner said both boys died of severe multiple blunt force trauma. The crash happened not far from the boys' school, Midview High School.

Both cars were forced off the northeast side of the intersection.
