McCain vows to fight terrorists, chase bin Laden to the "gates of hell"

Posted by Leila Atassi and podonnell@plaind.com February 25, 2008 12:54PM

The first of several campaign stops in the Cleveland area Monday for Sen. John McCain was at Rocky River's Don Umerley Civic Center/Memorial Hall where several hundred supporters meet with him.

Updated at 11 p.m. Monday

Sen. John McCain vowed that if elected president he will work to defeat what he called the great transcendent evil of the 21st century more widespread than it was before 9/11.

Prompting a standing ovation from several hundred of his supporters Monday in the packed Don Umerley Civic Center Memorial Hall in Rocky River, McCain said that he would never abandon the war on terror.

If I have to follow him to the gates of hell, I will get Osama bin Laden, McCain declared to thunderous applause.

And he said that under his administration, U.S. troops would never surrender to insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan.

McCain, the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, fired up the crowd with his resolve at the morning town meeting a format the Arizona senator called the cornerstone of his campaign. Supporters peppered him with questions about immigration, national security, health care and his plan to help struggling urban areas like Cleveland.

Later in the day, he paused for a handshake session at the Colonial Eatery on Ridge Road in Parma, where questions about policy took a backseat to autograph requests and poses for quick snapshots.

In a quick talk as he stood jammed between tables of diners, McCain joked with local officials, repeated his call for lower taxes and went out of his way to thank veterans for their service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Twice within the brief remarks he praised the Ohio National Guard for its sacrifices, calling its members the best of America.

At the town meeting, McCain reaffirmed his support of current foreign policy. But he said that Democrats distorted his comments when they quoted him saying that the United States will maintain a military presence in Iraq for the next 100 years. The presidential hopeful said his administration would help U.S. troops gradually transition to a supportive role in fighting Iraqi insurgents.

The war will be over soon, McCain said. The insurgency will go on for years and years, but it will be handled by the Iraqis.

McCain also outlined his strategy to re-energize the economy by giving permanent tax breaks to the middle class and by lowering corporate taxes to encourage companies to remain rooted in the United States.

He vowed to put an end to government earmarks for wasteful projects and instead meet with governors to better understand regional needs.

McCain said that Ohio, ripe with manpower and manufacturing capability, could play a key role in exploring alternative energy sources to reduce dependence on foreign oil and mitigate the impact of fossil fuels on the environment.

But when he was asked to speak on his urban agenda and the foreclosure crisis gripping Ohio, many of his responses were vague and circuitous. Answers to questions about the economy meandered back to the subject of tax breaks.

McCain described a plan to bring more accessible health care to veterans but said he does not believe in the Democrats vision of universal health care or that government should interfere with the industry.

We must let American families make their own choices, McCain said.

I feel McCain is wrong in leaving the troops there. In order to fight the terrorists we need to draw them out of hiding. In order to draw them out we need to remove our troops from abroad and fortify positions here domestically.

When these terrorists groups finally show their face and attempt to attack us, then we can take them out.

Yes I admit it's risky. However, we have spent several years searching Afghanistan and the Middle East for Bin Laden with thousands of troops. We are not able to find him now, what makes McCain so sure he will be able to?

As old is John McCain is, chasing Bin Laden to the gates of hell is a real possibility.

Get it... HE'S OLD!!!

MCCAIN '08!!!!!!!!

Who do the terrorists want to win our election?

Not John McCain.

You ought to rethink that.

Which terrorist groups were fighting in Iraq before we invaded? Which terrorist groups are there now? How did Iraq become frontline battle between our military and terrorist groups and Iraqi militias? Where do terrorists send suicide bombers to film propaganda videos? How long does John McCain want to stay in Iraq?

So let me get this straight--you're saying that terrorists do NOT want the guy who will ensure their fundraising, recruitment, and arms shipments will thrive?

I can picture it, John McCain running through the mountains of Afghanistan saying I'll get you Bin Laden I'll get you.....Seems like the Republicans have had a great plan to get him from 9-11.....NOT....They must have made a wrong turn and said, hmmmm lets see who we can take out here....The American people won't notice...

This guy is playing to the fears of people. He may be a retired military but his using these scare tactics too much. 8 years ago I liked this man. Today he is too old. At my age I don't want a contemporary in the house. We need to pass the torch of leadership to the younger generation.

OK so you want to draw the terrorists "out of hiding" and you think fighting them here in the US is better. We have drawn the terrorists out of hiding, and they are fighting our troops in Iraq. Your plans sounds like "I say we let them fly a few more planes into some of our skysckapers. Then we will know where they have been hiding".

Go make our country weaker Nancy. (Yes you Pelosi)

Regardless of whom we elect, radical terror groups will still be a threat. As well, regardless of whom we elect, it'll take a while to get all our troops and equipment out of Iraq.

I think we need to begin a steady withdrawal to force the Iraqis to take charge of their own security - whatever form that takes - as long as basic human rights are protected. Perhaps the UN and/or NATO will finally step up and provide some substantial peace-keeping forces. So-called "nation building" policies have never proved to be effective or efficient undertakings - regardless of where, by whom, or on whose behalf, the effort was made.

I could care less about McCain's EXPERIENCE, seeing as how he backed so many bad decisions by the Man-Dingbat Bush. I just wish he would get a d@mn tailor to make sure his suits fit right for once. It's like he's wearing Shaquille O'neal's suit or something :(

So McCain wants to chase OBL to the "gates of hell." Considering he's kissing up to the neocons, who are more obsessed with empire building in Iraq and Iran than getting Bin Laden, I won't bet on it.

I cant believe they use dankeene's comment for the front page!
Ha ! Mccain is going to get his butt handed to him

meanwhile here is some REAL NEWS.

McCain Breaks Law...That He Wrote

Tomorrow morning the Democratic National Committee will file a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission against John McCain. Why? In the words of DNC Chair Howard Dean:

We want John McCain to obey the law with his own name on it.

This afternoon Dean and officials at the DNC held a conference call in which they spelled out why they will file a complaint with the FEC against McCain. The background is that in December and January, McCain was broke and had to tap in to a massive amount of lobbyist money to keep his campaign afloat. Doing so put him in danger of exceeding the spending limits attached to participation in the federal matching funds program, in which an eligible candidate can receive monies voluntarily contributed by taxpayers to match low-donor campaign contributions in exchange for abiding by spending limits.

Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani had opted out of the federal matching funds program. John Edwards and several other candidate had opted in, but since there was insufficient money in the fund, they had to secure a loan against the money they were certified to receive.

McCain publicly declared that he would accept the matching funds (and therefore abide by the spending limits). But since he was broke, he had to go to a bank and secure a loan under dubious conditions. Since he appears to have secured the loan by using his eligibility to accept the federal matching funds, it seems fairly clear that he is committed to the federal matching funds system.

The DNC's complaint will allege the following. Fist, that McCain used his status as a candidate operating under the federal matching fund program to gain access on state ballots without having to spend any money to submit signatures. From the DNC's press release:

The McCain campaign has incorrectly stated that McCain is doing what Dean did when he withdrew from public financing in his presidential bid, but they have the facts wrong. Dean did not use the promise of matching funds as collateral for a loan. Dean withdrew before the FEC determined eligibility for funds, unlike McCain. And he spent millions of dollars to get his name on the ballot after withdrawing, unlike McCain, who had free ballot access in many states because he pledged to accept matching funds.

That is a material gain from pledging to accept the matching funds. Another material gain from pledging to accept the matching funds is the ability to use his eligibility as collateral, which he did to secure his loan.

Finally, by receiving these material benefits from his pledge to enter the matching funds system, he is bound to abide by the spending limits. The matching funds program requires one to spend no more than approximately $57 million dollars for the entire campaign up until he officially becomes the nominee in September. Through January, he had already spent over $46 million.

If you follow the implications, since he entered the federal matching funds program, John McCain is now essentially at the spending limit, and is legally prohibited from spending any more money until September. To spend more money would be to break federal law.

That law, by the way, is sometimes named after its Senate sponsors: McCain-Feingold.

Maybe thats what the terrorist want after all HA!

McCain does want a pull-out as well, just as soon as Iraq is able to stand on their own. We will remain there just like Japan Germany Korea no matter who is elected, however, McCain is the most qualified to get the job done. The job is to stop the terrorists from blowing the U.S, off the map. Look, we could run away there, go all socialist and hand over our rightss to the new govt,, but that still will not appease the Islamo-fascists muslims. They hate our Christian based form of govt and all of the freedoms it protects and guarantees, We have to be constantly vigilant guarding our freedoms. The best qualified to protect America is John McCain.

In case thats not enough to wet your pallet how about McCain's forced the relocation of Dineh-Navajo in Arizona, causing thousands of deaths.

FACT: This action was condemned by the UN Human Rights Commission, and yes McCain was named

Yeah he is a REAL American HA!

Thanks again to PD for their "hard hitting journalism"

McCain forced the relocation of Dineh-Navajo in Arizona, causing thousands of deaths, to get their land for coal mining. Condemned by the UN Human Rights Commission

Description

http://www.cain2008.org "Am I my brother's keeper?"

The UN, EU and numerous public organizations are deeply outraged over the stripping of rights and forced resettlement of these gentle and deeply spiritual band of Dineh-Navajo Indians from Arizona. The UN Human Rights Commission (SR AbdelTelif Amor, Investigating the US Government's abuse of the Navajo), issued a condemnation, they were so disgusted. The European Union issued written criticisms and demanded the Clinton Administration intervene in McCaine's lawmaking. Clinton remained silent. The Dineh-Navajo were quite literally swept off of lands they'd owned since 1500 A.D. by legislations authored by Senator McCain on a ruse that challenged their deeds to these lands, and handed the coal beneath them over to the largest unsustainable energy corporation in America.

Peabody Western Coal Group, the nation's largest coal mining company, has been progressively strip mining the vast Coal resources from beneath the Dineh-Navajo's farmlands at nominal cost and tapping their pristine lakes and wells to slurry pipe it to a power station in Nevada, while McCain arranged convenient amendments to this very ugly law so as to more easily evict the Dineh-Navajo from their lands just ahead of Peabody's perpetual expansion of it's Coal Mining operations. The Black Mesa was one of the nations most beautiful plains areas, today, it's a Hell on earth.

To force them off the lands, a partition fence was used (through law enacted by McCain in a 1996 bill he brought before the Senate and House) designed to deprive them of range to herd their cattle. When the Dineh simply removed sections of the fence to range their herds, the Dineh's water wells (for cattle, but on the other side of the fences from them) were capped, their properties vandalized, their cattle seized, and ultimately false challenges to their deeds were filed by paid proxies of the Peabody Western Coal Company under the guise of a phony "Hopi" tribal counsel claiming theoretical ownership of all Indian lands nationwide.

UN officials, even the Commissioners appointed to oversee the resettlement by the Senate and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, have issued hue and cry that the entire affair is little more than Genocide against the gentle Dineh-Navajo. Many have resigned shortly after being appointed. The Environmental impacts of the strip mining and the slurry pipeline are not only horrifying but many are not lawful. Some officials have equated the behavior of Senator McCain's laws and the activities of his Senate Committee and that of the Government to enforce same, to be on a par with that of the Nazis during WWII, and have suggested that same will remain "a blotch upon the history" of America for a very long time. See the attached Press Release top right for details about the hue and cry.

Amendments to US Public Law PL 93-531 in:

* 1996 (Partition Fence),
* 1999 (Settlement and Eviction),
* 2001 (Enforcement of Resettlement Mandates) and
* 2005 (Expansion of Resettlement),

all of which were authored and introduced before the US Senate by Senator John McCain. For the past 8 years, the United Nations Special Rapporteur (Hon. Abdeltalif Amor) on Indigenous People's Rights and the United Nations' have been issuing most vigorous condemnation of human rights violations they say, after very lengthy investigations, that the US Government is and has been committing against the Dineh-Navajo from Arizona. Senator McCain's legislative activities against the Dineh-Navajo in Arizona have led to the very first UN Human Rights investigation inside the USA in history. (see attached Press Release)

Senator McCain has also introduced a bill this year, before the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, intended to strip away Indian Casino Operations, the sole source after Arts and Crafts that most Tribes have for funding Education, Housing, Health Care and Law and Tribal Security, for their peoples. This would also open most Tribes up to looting of their lands and resources, lacking the funds to legally defend themselves from carpetbagging.

The Dineh-Navajo, who have been progressively victimized by McCain and others over the course of three decades, have no Casino and little by way of financial resources to defend their legal rights with, a difficult position when up against one of the Senate's most powerful figures and the largest Coal Mining company in the US. As a result, during their three decades long peaceful resistance to the avarice of Senator McCain and greed of Peabody Group, they've been handed legal setback after legal setback, while a phony adversary tribal counsel composed by Peabody testifies over and over again against their rights before an egregiously "gullible" US Senate, House, and Supreme Court.

The organization, Common Cause, suggests McCain received large numbers of street name campaign contributions backing his three Presidential runs, and allegations have been made that Senator McCain's family liquor distribution business, operated by his Wife, landed huge "payback" contracts in Las Vegas, Nevada where the Coal supplied lower costpower via the Mohave Generating Station in Loughlin operated by giant Bechtel Corporation. Meanwhile, the forced resettlements have led to disease and early death among more than 7,000 of the Dineh-Navajo.

ACSA study reveals that after assembling a team of "pro-Peabody Western Coal" Indians and obtaining a false "Hopi-Navajo" Tribal Counsel designation by the Bureau of Indian Affairs for these paid Tribal representatives, in the period 1974-1996, Senator McCain was able to get large bands of the Dineh-Navajo relocated off their lands, so that Peabody Western could mine the coal under their farms at nominal expense. Common Cause has suggested McCain was indirectly compensated by street name cash contributions to his Federal Election Fund during three Presidential runs, and through a family beer and liquor distribution business with Las Vegas Casinos who benefited from the coal driven power he supplied. McCain's wife operates the business.

Watch the film, "Vanishing Prayer", but bring kleenex. It is a story that demonstrates why McCain and his peers do not belong in public office.

McCain far outclasses whichever of the socialist democrats running. He's like a man running against immature children, with all their promises to do everything and anything but offering no way to pay for it all except to raise your taxes to European state levels. The choice seems pretty clear: if you want cradle to grave government care, and the price tag that goes with it, vote Clinton/Obama: if you believe in capitalism, free enterprise, and self-sufficiency, vote McCain. I think we all know who Socialist Boob is going to vote for: do you really want to be on his side?

so the choices are to side with Socialist Bob or DunlopReggie?

Socialist Bob acknowledges global warming, so that means he has common sense. You deny it. So the choice has now become some common sense or none.

I'll take common sense.

2Mc,

I like to think of Iraq as one of those pool-side zappers for mosquitoes, except instead of mosquitoes, Iraq draws in terrorists to zap. I have no problem with that. What do you think these fanatical terrorists would be doing if we were not in Iraq? Selling falaffel on the streets of Damascus (I say Damascus since many of the rats are Syrian), Jeddah (many of the rats are from the terror state of Saudi Arabia), or Fallujah (some of the rats are also from Iraq)? Like someone above said, we will leave Iraq when we are ready. We don't need to give terrorists a date. Just like we fought against Nazi insurgents in Germany after WWII, and Imperial insurgents in Japan after WWII, we will fight against Islamic and Baathist terrorists in Iraq.

For those who think stabilizing Iraq is an impossibility, look to 1940s Japan. This was a nation where the empire was looked at as God, and he was supported fanatically, with most of the population willing to die in kamokaze attacks to advance his wishes. While the cities were industrialized, the countryside was a collection of land barons with feudal style estates with a whole lot of peasants living in serfdom. After WWII, MacArthur successfully imposed parliamentary democracy on the island, as well as breaking up the feudal estates, initiating land reform on Japan, and creating it into a democracy that has been thriving and successful since the end of WWII.

Surrendering in Iraq, on the other hand, would lead to disaster. Withdrawing without securing stability of that country, irrespective of what you think about going in there to begin with, is disaster. Democrats are still stuck in the past, whinging about "No WMD's" and making UNSUBSTANTIATED CLAIMS that Bush made up intelligence to invade. Even if this is true, which it unequivocally is not, that doesn't change the FACT that leaving Iraq before stabilizing the country would be a disaster. It might make Republicans look bad, but that doesn't mean it would do the world good. Democrats need to learn this and stop trying to allow tragedy to happen in order to score political points.

I can't wait until Obama and McCain have their first debate and Obama starts mewling on about his earnest, touchy-feely belief that we should open the lines of communication, establish a meaningful dialogue, and explore avenues of common blah blah blah with tyrannical madmen.

McCain will rip him to shreds.

Yeah, hey curmudgeon, be prepared to tell us all about global warming tomorrow right about this time. We'll see if you sound like someone who has common sense.

"The term 'global warming' strikes fear in the heart of people every time you say it, but it's simply a rise in temperature over time, and it's happened before. I'm not sure which is more arrogant for humans: to say we caused it or to say we're going to fix it." --Mark Nolan, WKYC Meteorologist, in the Cleveland Plain Dealer 2/16/07.

Vote for McCain!!!

Who do the terrorists wish to win? Of course, John McCain. Why ? Hell, they have not found Bin Ladin yet, have they?

The 7.5 years of leading via fear is almost over!!! Praise the Lord!!! A real leader with common sense has emerged via Obama.
GO OBAMA!

I still remember the keating 5.
I remember his affair with Cindy while his wife was recovering from a very serious accident. I guess I just can't get the John Mc. in the White House

I couldn't agree more zenjen
its sad that people look more into what has been said then what he has done (or what he has NOT DONE)

Jabb0, you have a problem with cleveland.com for using my comment?

Maybe they have enough common sense not to use your drivel that you take from other sites and copy and come to this one and paste.
Do you think for even a minute that readers on this site read more than a line of the 10 paragraphs you steal?

Take a minute for yourself, maybe an idea of your own might pop into your head. And until then, keep believing EVERYTHING you read on the internet.

Yeah, hey curmudgeon, be prepared to tell us all about global warming tomorrow right about this time. We'll see if you sound like someone who has common sense.

Yeah, hey Loper, be prepared to tell the people of Akron and Canton tomorrow that sleet, rain, and sheets of ice are SSSSSOOOOOOOOO much easier to contend with during evening rush hour than snow.

As far as the Keating 5, wasn't McCain totally cleared of wrong doing?

BS allegations follow you around even after they are found to be untrue. Just like the last batches of crap thrown at McCain.

You just keep believing Obama or Hillary can pass any of the things they campaign on through the house and senate. They just say all these things to excite the idiots, but never can get them done. Just like all the dems who just got elected on platforms of pulling us out of iraq. Are we still in Iraq? Yes.

You suckers keep believing the lies.

"the terrorists" dont give a flying fig who wins our election.

Yes, McCain was cleared of ANY AND ALL wrongdoing in the Keating 5.

let's see, the choices are bill clinton's wife, a corpse and a guy who is known for talking and nothing else.

heads you win, tails i lose. and then i get a swift kick in the nads after the coin toss.

McCain is the exact opposite of what this country needs right now. If you think fighting terrorism is the biggest issue we face then you are living in your own private rebublican bubble.

You have a greater chance of dying in the emergency room while wwaiting for your insurance information to check out, than you do being killed by a terrorist.

What America needs is a face lift and a make-over. Other countries do not respect us anymore. And having the respect of other countries will ensure they stand behind us when we do fight terrorism. Obama, I believe would garner the respect of our allies that we are willing to evolve as a nation. He represents hope and chnage, not fear and the staus quo.

Obama 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DunlopReggie and Slayerit:

I probably make more than both of you put together and I still care more about the poor than either of you. My vote goes to people who need it, not like the two of you who vote for your own self-interests like tax breaks for people that don't need it. Your Republican values are rooted in greed, yet you constantly mention Christianity. My Socialist values are rooted in helping poor people. If you want to boast about having a Christian basd form of government, then back up what you say and cast a vote for the poor. Why is it always the republicans that bask in hipocracy? Who would Jesus vote for?

Just so you know - I like socialism because it focuses on helping the general welfare of the lowest class of people. I am not a communist. I enjoy my personal freedoms and would like more of them. I would like to guarantee certain things (like healthcare, food, edcuation, etc) to all citizens who may or may not be able to get them on their own. I think we are able to help other people and keep our freedom. Why is that a bad thing? Afraid to loose your tax breaks?

Isn't that a shame... You deny kids healthcare so you can get a tax break you never deserved in the first place. You say democrats tax and spend, but 7 years of republican rule have only spent and spent. Your kids and my kids will pay for this war and your tax cuts, because you refused to stand up for them!

How do you like those apples?

SocialistBoob:

You assume too much for yourself and the Socialist Party.
Good Luck with your RED apples!

Too bad for you, socialistbob, america is NOT A SOCIALIST COUNTRY!

I'll tell you what, it is pushy losers like you that can brag how much money they make. "I probably make more than both of you put together", whatever . And if you are so well off, and high on your ideals of socialsim, give all of your big money to the government to distribute to the lowly. Lets see you do that big balls.

In America, the government doesn't distribute the wealth and property.

VeuveNoire -To achieve this goal, the solution is to elect enough Democrats to override Republican obstructionism.

dankeene,

If I thought for one second that the government would give the money to the poor, I would give them as much as they needed... Since the government you helped elect will only give that money to multi-billion dollar companies like Haliburton, I choose to donate directly to non-profit charities. Enjoy your tax break dankeene, who knows how many kids and soldiers had to die for it... You are a REAL AMERICAN!!!

If you support McCanin you are either:

A racist
A sexist
A homophobe
A warmonger
A billion years old
In love eith Sean Hannity
Misinformed about EVERYTHING
All of the above.

You cannot deny that America is a wasteland right now and we need a new direction. 4 more years of McCain and the same old same old will only send us further down the downward spiral.

Hey Dankee or dinkleman or whatever you call yourself, Yeah i think its hilarious McCain is a liar and a coward.

As far as the Keating 5 you are an idiot everyone around him went to prison to protect him. thats a fact he is a coward that denounced his country. I cant wait to see him studder his way through a debate.

He thinks that Vladimir Putin is the president of Germany HAHAHA!!!

Thats your boy ehhh?

besides maybe you need to do a little more reading god knows you could use it. I at least look for facts while you just regurgitate crap and lies

Go ahead vote for the murderer of Indians! thats a fact baby boy!! no amount of anything you say can change that.

Laughing at you
HA!
DAD

tribefan88:

You are sooooooo right!!!

Unfortunately, here are a LOT of those people in this country. Hopefully most of them will die off or see a therapist in the next 5 years so we can actually achieve some real change in this country. Keep Bloggin... We need educated people in northeast Ohio. There are so many conservative hicks in this state!!!

dankeene- The terrorists, which are not the largest problem facing this country right now, would rather have McCain elected than Obama. Obama has spent his time in the Senate ridding the world of real WMD's in former Soviet States in order to keep them out of the wrong hands. So do some research before it is said that he has done nothing, furthermore Obama worked with who, Senator Lugar (R), thats right a Republican. Lugar one of the most highly respected Senators in Washington is a Republican and not only did Obama cross the aisle to work with him but has gone on record saying if elected he plans to place him in his cabinet. Think about that a leader willing to work with Republicans and Democrats, thats what we need more than anything some unity. I'm embarrassed of our current President (R) and the current majority in Congress (D). Its time to get some real work done, and Obama is the only man who can do this

tribefan888:

We appreciate the keen insight that is the basis of your hate.

Have you ever considered checking into a psych. ward? I think jaboo is already there waiting for you. LOL!

Yeah yeah yeah

The terrorists clearly want boosh again. boosh gave them everything they wanted .. endless war, drain on the US Treasury, etc.

boosh is worse than osama. mccain is no better. But then again, neither is obama.

reggie is the least informed poster at Cleveland dot com.

Pay no attention to this guy who posts 24/7 and is nothing more than a bush sycophant.

A vote for McCain or Hillary won't change anything, I'd rather give Bush 4 more years. He's too old, and what's up with his arms? He moves like he has arthritis or something, and they never fully extend. She only thinks she can lead the country because her husband did. My wife gives her advice and helps me run my business, but I would'nt trust her to do my job simply for being my wife.
We won't get fresh ideas and a new direction from long time Washington insiders. People are too afraid of real change, which won't come with either career politician.

lagizo3:

Bush "crossed the aisle" as well. That was his great strenghth. Great argument.

The reason why the economy has tanked can be linked to terrorism. We have had to chase those Islamo-fascists who have done harm and will do more harm . That has caused much havoc. There are other factors as well but to ignore terrorists on the issue of the economy is not looking at the whole problem. Yes, foreclosures are attributable to the economy, but that problem would pale if terrorists were to set off the big one here. We need to be strong and sacrifice as freedom isn't free. Don't be fooled by the acidic lies of hillery or the singsonged Pied Piper. Don't believe me either. Study history.

slayerit:

I think making fun of other bloggers is always good fun as long as you have something of sustenance to say first. Your politics are tired and useless.

When your debate falls apart, you try to poke fun of other bloggers because YOU ARE DEBATING A LOSING BATTLE. Your politicians have been in office for 7 years doing nothing but ruining this country. You talk smack about other governments when the one you like DOES NOT WORK!

READ A BOOK AND TAKE A DEBATE CLASS!

YOU MAKE IT HARD FOR THE REST OF US WITH OPPOSING VIEWPOINTS TO HAVE AN EDUCATED CONVERSATION!

slayerit:

Please look up the term fascist... you use it a lot and I don't think you know the meaning because your are one.

SLAYERIT IS A FASCIST (not Islamic based though)!

:-)

Bush crossed the aisle when he never had to worry about full support, such as just after 9/11 when of course the entire congress will support the president and the country. However if anything this hunt for terrorism has helped the economic fortunes of those who are in power, once again see haliburton or any other company that is receiving large government contracts to 'rebuild' Iraq. If we want to stop terrorism then we have to get out of the middle east, we must offer real solutions and the possibility of a better life, see the fall of the soviet union. Look at Iran we will not succeed in the Middle East by deploying troops, we will be looking at the largest segment of the Iranian population, the under 28 crowd, and show them the draw backs of theocracy and the potential in democracy. Its hard to show the potential freedom in democracy when our so called democratic government passes the patriot act, which offers some redeemable qualities, but mostly invades our privacy. What I don't understand is all of these so called 'die hard' Republicans who support this, a true Republican would never support something that took away rights and gave more power to big government.

I remember the first time I read comments on the PD site. The first comment I saw was by DunlopReggie. And I thought, alright, this guy makes sense. Think I'll stick around.

You da man, Reg.

SocialistBoob:

Your "right" to express yourself, however wrong you are, is guaranteed by the govt you despise.

Put your hatred to work and donate all of your belongings to your less than fortunate neighbor directly. You both will be then broke and looking at the govt you hate for handouts. Thank God, our govt will tell both of you to get a job and pull yourselves out of your "hand out" mentality.

Wake up from your marxist dream, it turns out it was a nightmare!

jabb0,

are you making fun of my name? are for real. "Hey Dankee or dinkleman or whatever you call yourself" Did I ever call myself Dinkleman? People names are posted above their post. Learn to red. Get back to junior high if you want to make fun of names.

In the Keating 5 scandal, McCain was cleared. Totally and completely.
I'm an idiot? Or is the idiot the one who believes in the conspiracy theory that everyone else went down to protect him? Go watch X-files.

I never, ever, heard McCain say that the though Putin was the president of Germany. If he did, and it was a HUGE deal like you are making of it, why does nobody else care? Spaz?

You want to say he denounced his country? It was while being tortured! You little coward. You are not man enough to withstand a minute of torture, but you can call out a guy who took 5 years. You must be a pretty big guy to run your mouth about a vet like that from behind your keyboard.

As far as the Indians, why hasn't the big political machines of the Democrats brought this up? It is obviously true because there is a website made by a hack.

Prove it

baby boy? who the hell are you?

selassie,
you don't like the fact that mccains arms are messed up? Becaus that is a good way to judge someone. Do you hate people in wheelchairs?

His arms are messed up because he was tortured for five years in north vietnam after his plane shot down. His legs were repeatedly broken. Do you pick on people for being a little gimpy?

How about ww2 vets who had limbs amputated, do you have a problem with them?

SLAYERIT:

Let's talk about the fact that you are a Christian, since you brought it up earlier...

Did Jesus favor the rich or poor?

Did Jesus preach to take care of your neighbor?

Did Jesus ever say it would be hard for a rich person to get into heaven?

Did Jesus give to the poor?

Face it SLAYERIT... Jesus was a SOCIALIST...

Oh... I'm sorry, you probably pick and choose which parts of ther bible to believe based on how it affects your taxes?

Care to debate??

The early Christian Church (later Catholic) was the only successful implementation of true communism on a more than microscopic scale in human history. And that was about 1600 years before "communism" was a term. The early Christians literally shared EVERYTHING they had. Joel Osteen won't tell his congregation about THAT!

It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.

Sir Winston Churchill

Socialist, your ideas have been tried, and failed. This country was founded to get get away from government tyrany. Why should the government have a say in where my hard earned money goes.

Go smoke some more illegal drugs that you are a huge proponent of.

John is right for asking to defend our citizens.
This will help to produced more world peace now & in the future.
Why is the media telling the Clevelanders one-party hearsay?
NATO forever and John McCain now!!!!

SocialistBoob:

Jesus was a socilaist? LOL!

Jesus wanted us to take care of each other, not the govt. He had said to give what is Ceasar's to Ceasar recognizing a need for the govt as a governing body period. He never instructed us to give of ourselves wholly for the govt.

To assume that he would advocate the evils of marxism is a delusion.

Again you assume too much for yourself and your socialist party.

Socialist bob, you called for a debate on the Jesus was a socialist arguement and was just owned by slayerit. TKO first round

You suck

dankeen,

Churchill is the reason we had to go to war in Iraq... He is the person that set up Iraq in the first place. If he would have slit it into two countries then, we wouldn't have half the problems we do today.

Even with that said, Churchill was downing democracy. He admitted that it doesn't work, but it's the best we've got. Aren't you sick of the "best of the worst" mentality.

SHUT AND AND LISTEN!!!

I am sick of you putting me in with the "Socialism" from the Cold War. Your ideas have also been tried and are failing. Any government can fail if there are no balances and you elect idiots. That includes Socialism, Democracy, Communism, etc...

I am talking about a combination that provides basic needs to people, limits wealth to a relistic number (multi-millions), allows people to vote and retains civil liberties.

You don't even know the difference between Socialism (limiting personal choice) and Libertarianism (expanding personal choice)...

Yes, I am a horrible person because I smoke an occasional joint...

Count your tax dollars.. They cost sick kids thier lives!

Slayerit:

How much of the tax savings Bush gave you did you donate to the poor? Hmmm?? How Much???

If the government doesn't jump in, then so-called Christians like you will never help out those in need.

So Jesus wasn't a socialist and you're not a Christian!

Would Jesus have donated some of his tax breaks to the poor?

Why didn't you? (hint - it's because you are a greedy, hipocritical piece of crap that care more about yourself than those in need)

I hope you are never in a position where you need help!

Why should there ever be a limit on wealth? If I come up with an invention and everybody wants one, or i provide a service that everyone wants, there is no way that everyone else in the country should enjoy the fruits of my labor except me. The government will take a cut, fine.

Why should I pay for deadbeats who don't have the ambition i do. I have 2 careers. Why should I pick up the slack of some deadbeats who think that they are entitled?

I am an individual. I am not responsible for other peoples problems and mistakes.

Yeah, I'm killing kids. I'm killing our soldiers. F U. I don't vote because I think of tax cuts, you have no idea of who I am. If you want to live your way, the best you are going to do is on a commune.

dankeene:

You are a greedy PIG! You are angry with yourself because you know I am right. When I vote, I try to vote for what is best for this country as a whole, especially the lower class (poor people). When you vote, I bet you never think of anyone except yourself. When you vote for a republican (and some democrats), you are placing a vote for someone who is against healthcare for children and for a war that kills our soldiers everyday.

YOUR GREED KEEPS KIDS FROM THE MEDICINE THEY NEED!

You know those "deadbeats who don't have the ambition you do"

SocialistBoob:

It's reads as if your hooched up. That's okay. Take a break and come back later.

dankeene:

I really do not wish to argue with the devil. I only know that anyone who would link Jesus to the horrors of Nazism or Stalinism or Talibanism or any of those tried and failed forms of evil must be pure evil themselves in my book.

Deep down though people know what a failed position that is. Even Lucifer knows his fate yet he will go down fighting.

socialistbob = mother theresa

you are my hero

Slayerit:

You keep typing clear and I'll keep thinking clear...

Keep avoiding my questions about your lack of faith...

Take a break and read the BIBLE!

socialistbob, you called me a PIG?
Am I a capitalist pig?
you are a scray man, oooh

I'm not angry with myself at all. Here in America one has all the opportunities laid out for them. More than anywhere else in the world.
I pulled myself up by my bootstaps, put myself through college, grad school, flight school all on my own. If I can become a success, anyone can. We don't need the government to guide our lives. You might, but the rest of us can use our own brains to get ahead, not crutches like federal handouts.

Go crawl back to stalingrad comrade.

dankeen = Douchebag

You are a douchebag!

dankeen,

I grew up poor and worked hard myself. I didn't need the govenment to help me (except for a pell grant), but some people do. I don't want government to control everything. I want them to offer a viable alternative (like free state college) to people that are not as fortunate as you and I. Just because I want to give everyone (including kids) access to free healthcare and college doesn't mean you have to use them. The free market leaves out an entire section of the population (the poor). I think the government should give them an option. You can feel free to buy your own healthcare and pay for college. Helping others doesn''t have to hurt you... Government options for people in need doesn't mean government control. Learn to disassociate... Comrade...

Read the bible.
You are a bible thumper too?

I'll tell you what, you read the bible, and I'll do what I want. We don't need you or the government to tell us what to do.

If you want to futher the cause of the proletariat donate all of your money and property to the government, because you claim to make more money than others in this forum,(how very zen of you). You are clearly better than me. And the rest of americans. and the rest of the earthlings. You got the market cornered. You truely are fit to be cannonized.

Wow, i can tell all my friends, i have conversed with the most pious person in cleveland!

Blow it out your @**, you holier than thou prick.

And take a shower, your patchouli lameness is permeating everthing.

There is no Osama Bin Laden, he is dead!! Unfortunately in the minds of terrorists is a martyr and arguably makes him more dangerous.

Listen to Obama, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the breeding grounds of the terrorist movement. The mission was accomplished in Iraq, Sadaam is gone!!! Chasing a ghost like Bin Laden to the gates of hell without a clear mission objective is going to cost more lives. I respect McCain, but support Obama view on the war.

.....did someone say joint?
I'll meet you out back....
-J.C.

More tax breaks for companies??? Why is it that McCain wants us to feel bad for companies. Its a tough sell especially since the oil industry is setting record profits. Obama 2008!!!!

Hooch is being equally distributed had at socialistboob's crib...

Heil Socialism!

on the topic of tax breaks

if you actually read the article, the purpose of the tax breaks is to try to keep companies in the US. If Americans want jobs, they need companies to work for.

There are actually other companies than those in the oil industry, whose boards have to decide whether to layoff american workers and outsource to china or take advantage of a taxcut and keep jobs here.

Not every industry is so incredibly profitable, that they are "evil". In order to keep the economy going, we need jobs. It the corporation takes the jobs to china, everything falls apart.

So go ahead and take away the only reason they stay here, and see how well America fares.

From the article:

"McCain outlined his strategy to reenergize the economy with permanent tax breaks for the middle class and by lowering corporate taxes to encourage companies to remain rooted in the United States."

How dankeene misread the article:

"if you actually read the article, the purpose of the tax breaks is to try to keep companies in the US. If Americans want jobs, they need companies to work for."

Not even Nelson Rockefeller is dumb enough to read that paragraph in that manner. I don't care WHAT Democrat John McCain says. He is just throwing tax cuts in the faces of coporations that continue to outsource and shift OUR jobs overseas.

If the purpose of the tax breaks is to keep companies IN the US, the tax breaks would ONLY be for companies that KEEP JOBS IN THE US. President Reagan understood this. Heck, even Barack Obama understands this and says so. But our "Republican" nominee has no interest in protecting AMERICAN jobs. He just wants to continue to veer off our party's deep end by allowing corporations who just take from us and provide nothing in return to continue to rake in massive profits while doing nothing to contribute to our economy.

If we are to complete the mission in Iraq, we need money to do it. Allowing these "American" companies to skirt their responsibility to create jobs in THIS COUNTRY only serves to further drain the treasury, limit spending available for our troops, and leave our boys underarmed, understaffed, and underequipped.

If we don't hold McWeakKnees' feet to the flame, he won't do anything that actually helps. Quit buying what he's feeding you, and BE A TRUE REPUBLICAN. Demand MORE!

Going the distance on terrorism must be done, however unpopular. People understand this, just don't like it. Like broccoli.
We need to put an end to Islamo-facists so guarding Iraq for a while will go on, even after things settle down there. Just like Germany, Japan, Korea...

Tax breaks are the key to strengthen our economy. Tax and spend or tax and redistribute into social programs makes as much sense as to cut your nose to spite your face.

At least with McCain we are getting the truth, not just feel good words.

As for your above post, you clearly do not understand the concept of how tax breaks actually work. you only see the face value of these breaks and don't grasp the concept of how you can use the same breaks to work to your advantage in different situations.

for example the FEC is going to announce that they will investigate whether John McCain has broken campaign finance law by taking advantage of federal matching funds to secure a loan, get on the ballot automatically in states and break that commitment by trying to get around spending limits.

You see one set of conditions is true however when taken advantage of , they can be known as "illegal". I know this may be a new concept for you but trust me it is the way the world works.

stay in school kid.

Masters degree in physical therapy from case and a commercial pilots license to boot. Try to tell me to stay in school.

So the FEC will investigate. Does that mean that YOU actually know the outcome of the investigation? You have him found guitly already. The New york times printed BS just the other day. How do you know that Howard dean isn't just making waves with mudslinging.

You get your facts from headlines.

Clevenose, who has lived through the response to 9/11, suggests that the opposition wants to see more planes fly into skyscrapers. These simpletons like that really ought to feel the shame of such assinine comments. keep calling the same plays that Bush has been calling: off tackle right into the line..........no changes. Just distort the other side and the ppeople will believe us. A stupid tragic way is no way to fight this fight. It can be fought smarter. It could have been fought smarter had Bush and his goon squad paid attention to notable warnings................let's ban shmuck-like comments from clevenose wo suggests that proponents of a diff approach means we want to watch more US based tragedies. Grow up. Change is coming and McCain will not be calling the plays after this disaster and train wreck of GW..........

to Slayerit: You should run for office with your tax cut mumbo jumbo. Wasn't that your hero's mantra the last eight years? Has it paid off as promised? What would you have us do better/differently than his tax cuts? Is the country better off? Query: if your war on terror/islamo facsists is so important, should we be paying for it in real time or charging it to the future? Seriously, what say you...............ps: MCCain and the truth have never met!!!!!!!!!!!! He is toast.

If you want change in Ohio, get rid of Dennis.

What a proper place to say the country need a face lift and a make-over.. Plenty women there have already dug up enough gold to accomplish that.

Clevenose, that is exactly what I am saying.

We will also open up some more jobs in the process. Kill two birds with one stone. The terrorists attack us, people die, job opportunities open up because of the loss of human resources. The structural damage is so immense that it will take years to clean up. That clean up creates more jobs, people will want memorials (more jobs), and of course people will want to rebuild (creating even more jobs). Meanwhile the terrorists groups will have popped their heads out of their hole and we can whack 'em. Kinda like whack a mole. : )

NOT.

What I am really saying, is we shouldn't pull our troops out because that is exactly what the terrorists want. They want us to pull out and give up the fight. They want us to come back home where they can attack us and do more harm. I suppose I should have mentioned I was being sarcastic somehow, but I figured intelligent people would figure that out.

Oh, by the way, on manmade Global Warming, It does not exist according to some geophysicists. Thank you, Mr. Gore for your entertaining but completely BS movie.

"Last month, Oleg Sorokhtin, a fellow of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, shrugged off manmade climate change as 'a drop in the bucket.' Showing that solar activity has entered an inactive phase, Prof. Sorokhtin advised people to 'stock up on fur coats."

The previous excerpt was from the following article by Lorne Gunter, National Post

We live in the greatest country in the world! I hope you will all join me in my quest to change it!!!

I could not help but notice in the footage from channels 3, 5 and 8 last night that nearly everyone at the McCain event was under 18 or over 60. I understand that most people between those ages work full time, but all schools were in session and several teenagers and younger kids got out to come to the event. I'm sure there are plenty of small business owners and other people between 19 and 59 who would have no trouble making time for an event. Where were they?

Welcome back, !
