Peter and I are home from Door County. We stayed at a very nice hotel called the Bridgeport Resort in Sturgeon Bay. We had a very nice stay. We missed Sawyer a lot but we had a very relaxing 3 days. We slept in every morning and took a nap every afternoon. I finished reading the “Bourne Identity” which I’ve been reading for nine months. Pre-Sawyer, this book would have taken me a week to read but when you’re a mom there just isn’t a lot of extra time for reading.
We spent an afternoon going to little shops (we didn’t buy anything) and we ate . . . a lot. There was an Applebee’s right next to the hotel and it turns out they have delicious strawberry-lemonade drinks. They were oh so good . . . Needless to stay, for every meal I wanted to eat at Applebee’s so I could have the strawberry-lemonade drink.
We also toured a winery and bought some wine. I sampled a few little sips of wine and found a few that I really liked. We limited ourselves to six bottles, though. We gave one each of a Cranberry-Apple wine to my mom and sister for watching Sawyer while we were on vacation. I have to say that it was my favorite wine. We also bought a Cherry, Blackberry and Sunset Splash wine. All were very good. I only have to wait six or so more months to drink them!
Overall, the vacation was really nice. It was great for Peter and I to spend some time together and it was good for us to relax. We did wake up early this morning and rush right home to get Sawyer, though. He was very much missed.
We still have the rest of the week and weekend for the three of us to spend time together. We might go the Milwaukee Zoo or Bay Beach or both. Who knows . . . I guess it depends on our mood and Sawyer’s schedule. No matter what, it will be fun.
Amy, I am glad you had a good time on Vacation in Door County. Jeb said, he plans to take me there some day, during one of our anniversaries, birthday or some special occasion.
I’d like to take the kids to the zoo too before the summer is over. But that is, if we can squeeze in the time before our trip — which I doubt since we are going to be really busy. They’ll have fun in the Philippines. Besides, their summer would be extended, being warm in the Philippines.
Laurie - Maybe there is a zoo in the Philippines that you can take the kids to. It might have animals that they wouldn’t see in a Wisconsin zoo.
I’m so glad you had a nice vacation just the two of you. It sounds like it was a lot of fun. Those wines sound pretty good, it might be hard to hold off for so many more months! I hope you all have a good time the rest of the week doing family activities.
That sounds like a very nice vacation! I hope you guys have fun the rest of the week!
Amy, yes there are some zoos in the Philippines. The city where we will be mostly has some mini-zoos with monkeys and birds and crocodiles, etc. So, yea… the kids will have fun.
I’m glad you had some enjoyable time alone with Peter, and were able to go on vacation before the baby comes :)
