The copyright law of the United States ( Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
How ILLiad for Interlibrary Loan Works:
- To make an ILLiad ILL request, you must first identify yourself to the ILLiad system by filling out the registration form.
- Once you register, you will not have to fill out name, address, or other information again, unless you need to change it.
- Once we have your email and other information on file in ILLiad, the system can notify you automatically and promptly when your materials arrive.
- You will have secure access to information about your requests. You can view internal staff notes about the progress of your request. Also, you will be able to see what you have requested in the past.
- We recommend that you use your kent.edu username and password when registering. This information is secure in the ILLiad system; nobody will be able to determine what your password is.
- This system is not connected to Kent State University's FlashLine or any of our other Libraries' systems.
