Wadeable water on the White and Norfork, get it while you can.
WHITE RIVER: Surprise, surprise. Courtesy of the remnant of Gustav dumping inches of rainfall across Arkansas we have had windows of wadeable water over the past 2 days. Click for Generation History. And the fishing has been close to spectacular.
If you can get free Friday the SWPA generation forecast shows no generation until 5pm. One word of caution zero generation was forecast all morning today but the generations ran for 4 hours until just after midday. So nothing is certain. Equally it will pay to check the forecast for Friday later today. Click on the word Friday at left, when the schedule comes up look across the top until you see BSD for Bull, or NFD for Norfork.
Below Crooked Creek the White will be extremely dirty, with turbid inflow like to continue for a couple of days. But we have been hearing the water is fishable certainly from Wildcat upstream to the Dam.
Low water fish small dark midges, like our Camel Midges, olive Zebra and chocolate WD40s. Black and silver zebras and Super Midges and White Tail Super Midges have been doing well
We also did well on Tailwater Soft Hackles, black Anna Ks and other smaller soft hackles.
NORFORK: Similarly Norfork has been enjoying some wadeable conditions. though it has been less certain than the White. We had been hearing some good reports starting to come from Norfork during the reduced flows before this week, including some hopper action tight to the banks. This should be more prominent in the lower flows. Pack some terrestrials and some attractor dries to fish alongside the more usual midge, scud and sowbug patterns.
