Scientists have developed a mathematical formula for the perfect shower, reports the Press Association.

A team led by neuropsychologist Dr David Lewis developed the formula for Cheltenham-based manufacturers Mira Showers.

According to Mindlab International, the balance of privacy, pressure, time and temperature in the shower all need to be carefully moderated to create the perfect shower experience.

Portsmouth cabbie picks up £1,940 fare

(Image © AP Photo/Pier Paolo Cito)
A taxi driver in Portsmouth picked up a bumper payday after a man jumped in his cab and asked him to drive to Germany.

54-year-old cabbie Mick Hogan was waiting at a rank in Portsmouth when a customer got in and asked to be driven 740 miles to the Munich Beer Festival, reports the Daily Telegraph. He had missed his flight for a friend’s stag weekend.

Mr Hogan told the customer it would cost £1,700 for the impromptu trip and a further £250 for the channel crossing and one night in a Munich hotel.

With the fare agreed, Hogan went home to pick up a change of clothes before setting off to Germany via France, Belgium and Luxembourg. He eventually arrived in Munich 17 hours after he set off.

Pensioner eaten by his own dogs

(Image © AP Photo/Rafiq Maqbool)
A man who lived in a cave home with ten dogs has been eaten by his pets.

The remains of the pensioner’s body were found in his dwelling in Baza Granada. He is thought to have died from natural causes, reports the EFE news agency. It is thought that the dogs set about eating his body because they had no access to food.

Website typicallyspanish.com reports that the remains of the man, little more than a cranium and bones thought to be his legs, were taken to the Anatomic Forensic Institute in Granada. The dogs have been sent to a local pound.

(Image © Andrew Parsons/PA Wire)
The credit crunch is responsible for reducing house prices all over the world, but surely not to this extent!

A 30-year-old woman has paid just $1.75 for a house in an online auction on eBay.

The abandoned property in Saginaw, Michigan, attracted eight bidders but no-one could match Joanne Smith’s meagre offering.

Michigan newspaper The Saginaw News reports there is a notice on the door of the home saying a foreclosure hearing is pending and that $850 in back taxes and yard cleanup costs must be paid.

According to the Associated Press, Smith has no plans to visit her house and intends to resell it.

Man punches out shark to save his dog

(Image © AP/AP/PA Photos)
An American dog lover risked life and limb to save his pet terrier from a shark attack at a Florida marina.

Greg LeNoir had taken his pet Jake for his daily swim when a 1.5m-long shark surfaced and attempted to bite into the dog.

LeNoir leapt to the pooch’s defence, diving into the water and punching the predator repeatedly in its neck. He later told the Miami Herald it was like hitting concrete.

LeNoir and Jake made it safely back to shore. Although the dog had suffered puncture wounds to its body and lacerations to his front left leg, it is expected to make a full recovery.
