Sheen announces wife's pregnancy

Sheen was named as the highest-paid actor on US television earlier this month

Actor Charlie Sheen has announced that he and his wife, Brooke Mueller, are expecting their first child together.

"Brooke and I are thrilled!" the 42-year-old said in a statement.

The Two and a Half Men star married his estate agent wife, 31, in May after he was divorced from actress Denise Richards in 2006.

It is the fourth child for Sheen, who also has two daughters with Richards and a 25-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

Sheen said his wife was "the best stepmum" to his three daughters.

"Seeing her love and affection with those three, I know she'll be an amazing mum," he said.

"Unless I bat 100%, perhaps a boy awaits us."

Sheen and Richards are currently embroiled in a bitter custody battle over their daughters, three-year-old Sam and two-year-old Lola.

Earlier this month, Sheen, the son of West Wing star Martin, was named as the highest-paid actor on US television by TV Guide magazine.
