Who would have guessed Mr. Mandela would have been blessed with such a long life after spending 27 years in captivity but there he is with a new wife in tow with whom he is celebrating - 10 years of marriage.

Today his children and grandchildren gathered around the old man and sang him African songs to honour this occasion.

Earlier Mandela was treated to a gourmet musical rhapsody for his birthday and even Amy Winehouse remained sober enough to do a fantastic job of contributing her voice to the mix. Mandela had specifically requested for Winehouse to perform even though there were rumours that she had made a racist video. But that is the man Mandela is. I was a bit disappointed that he took such a hardline on Naiomi Campbell refusing to include her because of her bad behaviour of late.

For a man who has spent most of his life in prison, Mandela has accomplished a lot. As the saying goes it not about the number of years one lives but the life in those years is what matters.

May you live to see at least 100 years. That would be incredible.
