… is that I said I would try to review some Miley Cyrus this week.
Haha, just kidding! It’s a joy reviewing this song from our beloved Miley. From Miley’s latest CD, Breakout, “Goodbye” is a jewel. With a moderately slow beat and a heavy focus on lyrics, it is a nice change from the likes of “Start All Over” from her previous album. “Goodbye” is a very well-written song about a breakup—shocker, I know, who would have expected such a theme—that Miley just wishes she could forget. But don’t fret! Things all work out in the end. It must be nice to live in a world where even sad songs have happy endings. Her ex-boyfriend calls, and—surprise—he wishes she’d forget he said goodbye!
Despite the mildly annoying tween-ness and happily-ever-after, the song is overall a “Goodbye”—haha, get it, it’s a good buy, but since that’s the title of the song… oh never mind…
My last thought on this song before I open the floor to yall in the comments. As well-written as the song is, I simply can’t help but laugh at this one line:
Suddenly my cell phone’s blowin’ up
With your ringtone
I hesitate but answer it anyway
Maybe I am a bit out of the loop, but when did people start referring to a phone call to a cell phone as “my cell phone’s blowin’ up”? And wouldn’t one expect that, in the even of an explosive cell phone, the owner of sed cell phone would avoid answering the call? Who wants burns on her face? Oh well.
