Just an update: I was told not all of these are in jeopardy. But AOL has an official list:
http://money.aol.com/investing/companies-hit-hardest
Includes Under Armour, Apple, AMEX, and so on.
One thing to think about during these hard times: The corporate headquarters of a majority of these companies (the ones NOT closing completely) based their opening of NEW stores on convenience, making the clientelle happy, and opening more stores to therefore sell more. Think about this though: who NEEDS a Circuit City in every town?
Cost of a New building/store = construction, electricity, new merchandise, extra staff, parking, taxes, etc.
Making people travel further for the SAME merchandise = Free to the company
Again, convenience factor should not make a company lose money, but greed and building too many stores in close vacinity is not entirely necessary to success either.
Thanks for the post!
I’m really feeling for PacSun; where else am I going to get my distressed 80’s tees?
Little sis works at PacSun and she said they’re not closing. Fingers crossed!
Awesome. That’s where I used to get my novelty tees that proclaim your mom thinking that I’m hot. :)
