    Good idea: a library for tools

    open to all residents and property owners of Berkeley. The library lends out everything from cabinet scrapers to rotary hammer drills to portable workbenches. There are also reports of tool libraries in Vermont, Oakland, Portland, and Manitoba. This post from Daily DIY says that a tool sharing shop in Menlo Park, CA has been so successful in establishing a sense of community that more tools have been brought into the shop than have been taken from it. It seems to make perfect sense...so why aren't there more tool libraries?
