Always a Market for Large Diamonds

The world may be spiraling into a deep recession, but appears you can always find a market for a large diamond – even if the sale price is a bit lower than expected. A 101-carat diamond set in a tiara was auctioned off by Christie’s jewelry in Hong Kong. The diamond sold for a little over 6 million; though rumors had it that Christie’s expected it to sell for 8 million. Large diamonds are very exceptional and this one, over 100-carats is exceedingly rare, and most do not end up being sold at auction. Only three other diamonds over 100 carats have ever gone to auction.
