Guitar Hero: World Tour Gets Sting Too
http://www.virtualreality.ca/archives/Guitar-Hero-World-Tour...Guitar Hero: World Tour Gets Sting Too Posted by Michael on September 5, 2008 Yesterday, I presented you with a video of Billy Corgan doing the motion capture thing for Guitar Hero: World Tour. We knew that the Smashing Pumpkins lead guitarist would be leading his virtual likeness for the upcoming rnythm game and now another rock legend has announced his availability. We already know about Jimi Hendrix and Ozzy Osbourne, so who else could it be? Based on the picture depicted above, you can probably guess. Yup, it's Sting. You can play as Sting during your vocal career if that's your cup of tea, or you can also "play alongisde him" when you rock out to Demolition Man by the Police. Sting! Woohoo? In addition to the blonde wonder, Tool will also be in the game with Parabola, Schism, and Vicarious, though they are not bringing their likenesses to the game. Guitar Hero: World Tour ships October 26. Source: Joystiq TAGS: Guitar Hero World Tour, Rhythm Game, Sting POST TOOLS:

Sting gets MoCapped in Guitar Hero: World Tour preview
http://virtualgameplanet.com/2008/09/07/sting-gets-mocapped-...Filed under: Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, Rhythm Have you been curious about what Sting would look like all wire-framey and covered in ping-pong balls ever since you heard the news that the former Police frontman would make an appearance in Guitar Hero: World Tour? Good news, our tiny Desert Roses — you need not look further than a current promo for the title which we’ve conveniently posted after the break. We know that you usually rest your clickin’ finger during the weekend, but we assure you, making the jump is worth it — not only do you get to see Mr. Sumner’s digital manifestation in action, you also get to hear about his lack of prowess when it comes to jamming on fake plastic instruments (though we hear his tantric usage of Star Power is a extraordinary sight to behold). What you… or we.. Missed
http://consolehero.com/2008/09/08/missed/What you… or we.. Missed By Jordan Shearer on Sep 8, 2008 in News | 26 Comments Sorry for not updating lately, I have been quite busy, and I’m guessing it would be the same with the other guys. Anyway, here is a large compilation of what has happened lateley. Rock Band: Moving Pictures was delayed, due to “Technical Difficulties”, and there is wide speculation that it was becuase of the instrumental on the album, “YYZ”. It is expected to come out soon. The Locksley pack hit consoles as the replacement DLC, with the songs “She Does”, “Don’t Make Me Wait”, and “All Over Again”. The band was realatively unkown, but was a top Myspace band and was an upcoming MTV artist of the week. All the songs were off of the band’s new album. The songs were all a dollar, and the pack is currently up, as well as is the PAX pack. Harmonix hit PAX with a few stage demo’s and some annoncements, including a new achievement that requires you to finish the endless setlist without pausing, as well as the PAX DLC pack, that includes artists that performed at the festival, like famed nerd rapper MC Frontalot (”Livin’ At the Corner of Dude and Catastrophy”), The man who penned “Still Alive”, Johnathan Coulton (”Skullcrusher Mountain”), and The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets (”Shhh….”). The pack’s proceed’s are for child’s play charity, and are all a dollar. The pack was experiencing problems on the PS3 that caused it not to play, but those can now be fixed by re-downloading and instaling the pack or songs. An Offspring pack was leaked on LIVE, with the songs “Gone Away”, “Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)”, and “Self Esteem”. HMXSean has confirmed that Offspring DLC is in the pipeline. A new patch also hit the 360, including updates such as fixing unhitable notes in songs, update of the Rock Band 1 music store, new gold star cutoffs, and details on transfering RB1 disc songs to your hard drive for use in Rock Band 2. To quote HMXSean on it: Nominal fee of $4.99 (400 Microsoft points) required for export of Rock Band 1 soundtrack to compensate music licensors for expanded use.The following Rock Band disc tracks will not be available for export into Rock Band 2: * “Paranoid” as made famous by Black Sabbath, * “Run to the Hills” as made famous by Iron Maiden, and “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. In addition, the title update will also be released simultaneously in Europe. Tokio Hotel’s “Through the Monsoon” from the European disc release of Rock Band will not be available for export into the future European release of Rock Band 2. (* Indicates a cover song, all other songs are original master recordings.) Expanded usage rights for these particular tracks were unable to be secured from the music licensors for this feature. The six upcoming albums were also announced, including The Foo Fighter’s “The Colour and the Shape”, Jane’s Addiction’s “Nothin Shocking”, Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “Texas Flood”, Megadeth’s “Peace Sells.. But Who’s Buying?”, The Red Hot Chili Pepper’s “Blood Sex Sugar Magik”, and a special “Best Of” pack of No Doubt songs. This week’s DLC comes in the form of an All That Remains 3 pack, featuring “Two Weeks” and “Chiron”, off of the band’s new album “Overcome”, and thier song “This Calling”. These songs, as well, are a dollar (80 MSP). The release date of September 14 for the 360 was also confirmed through a Rock Band 2 commerical that has popped up on TV featuring AC/DC’s “Let There Be Rock”. The release dates for other consoles remain up in the air. Buuuut, speaking of AC/DC this little gem from the lead singer of The Darkest of the Hillsiade Thickets blog, shows “Shoot to Thrill (Live at Donnington)” as DLC in Rock Band 2. We can only hope that this means some AC/DC DLC. Guitar Hero World Tour: A lot of GH:WT news has come out as well, but let’s start with the confimed Smashing Pumpkins DLC pack for Wold Tour. The pack, joining “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” and “Today” on disc, will feature the single “G.L.O.W.” from thier upcoming album, as well as “1979″, and “The Everlasting Gaze”. The trailer below also confirms Billy Corgan as a playable character. Tool and Sting are officialy confirmed as well, while Sting brings The Police’s song “Demolition Man” to World Tour, and Tool brings 3 songs, “Schism”, “Parabola”, and “Vicarious”. If looks as though they won’t be coming to Rock Band anytime soon though, as Tool does not like MTV Networks, who owns Harmonix. It looks as though The Cult’s “Love Removal Machine”, Los Lobos “La Bamba”, Muse’s “Assassin”, Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker”, Bullet for My Valentine’s “Scream, Aim, Fire”, Lucana Coil’s “Our Truth”, The Living End’s “Prisoner of Society”, MC5’s “Kick Out the Jams” and The Sex Pistol’s “Pretty Vacant” have been confimed as well. I hope I haven’t missed anything. Editors Note: Jordan, thank you! Been crazy busy and this is awesome.

http://ostimusic.com/blog/omg-omg-omg/I like Guitar Hero, but I wasn’t sure about the upcoming version, Guitar Hero World Tour — until I read this: Additionally, three songs from Tool have been confirmed: Parabola, Schism, Vicarious. Inexplicably, the track list also includes “La Bamba” by Los Lobos, but even that bit of lameness can’t cancel out the awesome-o inclusion of three Tool songs. Consider my order placed.
