    http://uselesstree.typepad.com/ useless_tree/ 2008/ 09/ when-faced-with-the-absu…

We have reached that moment in American presidential campaigns when I realize just how far out of the mainstream of the indigenous political cultural I am.  The precise instant was last night, as I suffered through Sarah Palin's speech.         What struck me was my divergence with the general view,

    Anger Part II: resolving it.

    http://personaltao.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ anger-part-ii-resolving-it.html

This is an interesting topic. In much of what I teach, are the seeds of how to resolve anger in one's life.Firstly: Don't remove all aspects of anger out of one's life. Anger does serve a purpose, and more importantly at times you need some anger when dealing with other people.

    Anger

    http://personaltao.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ anger.html

I have this question from a friend today:Very angry. Don’t know what I am supposed to do with anger. Can’t not feel it and I know it doesn’t serve a purpose but where to put it? Anger serves a purpose to release deeper issues, problems and internal conflict. It's the pressure release valve of the spirit.

    http://uselesstree.typepad.com/ useless_tree/ 2008/ 09/ sarah-palin-taoist-sage.…

US politics have been roiled for the past few days in reaction to the announcement of John McCain's running mate.  Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska is an unknown to a national audience.  She has very little political experience, having served in a significant policy-making office for less than

    Hearts

    http://personaltao.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 08/ hearts.html

I got this question this morning to shareIs it okay to close our hearts to people? If they have hurt us or even if they love us? To make a conscious choice to do it?In the larger truth: we are all one. Our hearts always touch and are shared. In the smaller truth: of where we are now, as we busily tussle and shift about being an individual.

    http://uselesstree.typepad.com/ useless_tree/ 2008/ 08/ another-ersatz-proverb.h…

This morning I was sitting at the kitchen table, eating my cereal and drinking my coffee, when I heard, as I do many mornings, I brief radio piece, "Word for the Wise." I perked up when, at the very end of today's (August 25, 2008) program there was a line attributed to Lao Tzu.  It didn't sound quite right to me, however.  Here is the line: "Kindness in words creates confidence.

    Teaching Taoism & Walking Away

    http://personaltao.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 08/ teaching-taoism-walking-away.html

I teach Taoism with a twist. ... Which is no twist if you are being true to Taoist teaching ;)I add in modern references to make sure students today can also apply Taoist thinking in a way that both uses current language and takes in account changes to modern culture.Taoism dogma is about change, if
