If I can’t get enough sleep, I can at least conserve energy elsewhere…

    http://sarcasticmom.com/ ?p=364

Since we here at The Carroll Household have been working to be kinder to the world we live in, I’ve talked to you about the walk that inspired this, the challenge I issued, our neighborhood clean-up, our switch to cloth diapers, and the cleaners we use around the house.

    It's Not All Bad But...

    http://matthewcook.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 04/ its-not-all-bad-but.html

I think one of the reasons many of us feel like we're wasting our lives and devoting ourselves to futile things is because we are actually wasting our lives and devoting ourselves to futile things. Many of the things we do for recreation we don't even enjoy anymore. Take television for example.

    National Turn-It-Off Week

    http://www.mamaneedjava.com/ 2008/ 04/ 21/ national-turn-it-off-week/

April 21st-27th is National Turn It Off Week, which includes screen time in any form (tv, computer, games, etc.) Will we be able to do that? I’m not going to kid myself. As a telecommuter, the computer is my job, so I would have to have a week of vacation saved up just to pull that off! To boot, Hubby and I love movies, we’re Netflix junkies, and we value our movie bonding time.

Turn it Off! TURN IT OFF!!!!

    http://pavco.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 04/ 21/ turn-it-off-turn-it-off/

When Spawnette of PavCo came home a few weeks ago with news of her latest school project, participating in Turn it Off Week, it was met with mixed reactions here at PavCo world headquarters. I was on board (I try to be as supportive as possible, especially if I don’t have to get off the couch), but Mrs.

    The Fear Box

    http://coopernicus.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 04/ 15/ the-fear-box/

We’re all afraid of something.  I, for one, experience a stomach tightening at the sight of bats (the flying kind), have serious trouble with heights and don’t even think about suggesting a spin on a roller-coaster.  Flying, also, I’m not too keen on.  Well, it’s really more crashing and dying than flying itself.

    Books for an “Unplugged Week”

    http://www.unplugyourkids.com/ 2008/ 03/ 19/ books-for-an-unplugged-week/

Yesterday I had an email from Beth who is organizing an “unplugged week” at her school and is looking for the following: “…suggestions on books (i.e. stories that have children finding out how fun it is to unplug). I have a bunch on the 5-8 year olds, but after that, the selection peters out.

Don't get zapped: working with electricity

    http://www.diylife.com/ 2008/ 02/ 17/ dont-get-zapped-working-with-electricity/

Filed under: fix-it, weekend projects, electrical, recalls and safety, lighting, remodeling, electronicsIf you're like most DIY'ers, most projects don't intimidate you at all. Drywall repair? No problem. Repair a leaky faucet? Bring it on! But when it comes to electrical work, it's like entering a different dimension.
