Emergency Department
The newly renovated Emergency Department and Trauma Center provide emergency care to greater than 30,000 patients per year state-wide. Medical coverage is provided by faculty and residents of the Emergency Medicine Department. Nursing coverage is delivered by RNs who are supported by Emergency Department Technicians. Educational opportunities exist to obtain ACLS, TNCC or Trauma Nurse Specialist certifications. Over 50% of RNs are certified through the Emergency Nurses Association.Short Stay
This new 13-bed unit provides post-procedure care to patients requiring less than 24-hour observation who are discharged home. This unit is also utilized to accommodate patients who may need observation or admission based on physician direction.Surgical/Trauma/Intermediate Care
This 21-bed unit provides multidisciplinary care complete with social worker, dietician and weekly discharge conferences to patients who have sustained multi-system trauma, burns and a variety of accidents including motor vehicle and gunshot and stab wounds. Comprehensive care is also provided to patients undergoing operative procedures specifically thoracic, peripheral vascular, urology, abdominal, colon and head and neck cancer surgeries. RNs administer chemotherapy and are trained to provide care on the Intermediate unit that functions as a step-down for ICU and rotate between the Surgical Trauma and the 9-bed Intermediate Care unit.
