Italy and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has laughed off reports linking him with a £60 million move to Manchester City.
City's new Abu Dhabi-based owners, the United Group for Development and Investment, broke the British transfer record to sign Robinho on deadline day and the chances are more big names will follow when the transfer window opens again in January.
But the Juventus number one, who is currently with the Italy team preparing for a World Cup qualifier against Cyprus, claims he will not be one of them.
"It's a journalist's fantasy," said Buffon. "If an offer like that one arrived, I believe Juve would look at the numbers.
"But I doubt it would ever arrive."
Juve paid Parma £31million for Buffon in 2001 and the 30-year-old is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until 2013.
Buffon previously stayed at Juve even when they were relegated to Serie B for match-fixing.
City boss Hughes, meanwhile, vowed that he would not let slip the chance to make the club a title-challenger.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for everybody, myself included, and we are not going to let it slip," he said. "We will do everything in our power to make sure we take advantage of the position we find ourselves in and make everything bigger and better than it was before."
Having originally moved from Blackburn to City thinking he would have to build a team again, Hughes now finds himself in the position of being able to buy the best talent available - at any price.
However, Hughes refuses to look upon the situation as good fortune on his part, preferring to believe all his previous hard work has paid dividends.
"I would like to think I deserve a bit of backing," he said.
"If you look at my record in the Premier League, with limited resources it is as good as anybody. With resources I back myself to be successful.
"I think the owners recognise that.
"In the last couple of years I have been talked of in terms of some of the top jobs in the Premier League so it is not as if they are getting someone who doesn't know what they are doing."

Oh and Buffon is around £80,000 at Juve so i don't think he has many pressing financial concerns so i can't see him moving for money and since he has been loyal to Juve the whole way through there relegation, turned down moves to AC Milan and Real (who ,no offence, are more established and historic teams) so i can't see him moving to City!

Buffon is coming to city. Juve will never turn a bid of 60million down. Buffon being 30 is coming into his prime as a GK. The money and security it would provide his family for years to come would be to good to turn away. It would be a good move.
