Request For Help

I received this e-mail from Darren earlier today.

I am collecting information from high school students by getting them to complete a survey…if you can help this process in any way that would be great.

We are starting to collect information about high school education, we would like to hear your opinion hence we have a new survey in the student survey area.  This survey will ask your opinion about face to face high school.  This collection of information is a world-wide survey of students, who better to talk about high school education than high school students, join the movement.

Anyone can take the survey go to the following url:

After you have done that check out the movement website:

K-12 Online Learning NINGs

Okay, I’m coming a litle late to the game on some of these (or at least one of them).  I received a Google alert yesterday for Virtual High School Meanderings and discovered that Kate Logan (from the Wyoming eAcademy of Virtual Education) had linked me into her blog (see Thoughts from BFE - which I’ve added to the blogroll to the right).

Finding Kate’s blog lead me to a NING site that the Western Committee of iNACOL had created.  I hadn’t known about it before, so I immediately joined.

In the past (see Virtual School NING), I mentioned a NING created by Derek Wenmoth.

Virtual Schooling - This network is designed to engage those working in the development of virtual schooling networks around the world. Virtual schooling involves any situation where a learner’s experience of schooling is partially or completely online - whether provide by a virtual/online school, or by independent providers delivering courses into existing school environments.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it in the past, but iNACOL has a NING of their own as well.

K12 Online Learning - This is a network for people to share ideas, resources, and questions about the world of K-12 Online Learning.

There is also one that I know of created by a group of K-12 online learning folks in Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan e-Learning Network - A space for Saskatchewan High Schools to share information about distance learning opportunities they offer.

The only other one I know about is the closed one used by Odyssey Charter School (see Social Networking and Web 2.0 in Online Courses).

Speaking Of Blogging

Darren over at Teaching and Developing Online has posted a number of items recently about the Saskatoon Catholic Cyber School that when read together are rather interesting.  What do you think?

He has a couple of series that are in progress right now, so I’ll try and post those to when he is done with them (hint to Darren, in your last entry for each of those series, indicate that it is your last entry so I know when to post the summary here).

I also have to apologize to Darren (and I guess Kelli as well, given she was the one who compiled it).  I just received an advanced copy of the NACOL Research Committee brief that was completed on mentoring to review and the material that he sent to me was not included in that document.  As such, I think that he and I should use that material to put together a manuscript that we send somewhere with a practitioner focus (and this is the first he’s hearing of this I’m sure, as we’re working on another manuscript on a different topic as we speak).
