XH558
We have not managed to see XH558 at an airshow this season as it was either washed out (Fairford) or unfortunately she teched out to the airshows we were able to get to.
However we saw XH558 at R.A.F. Brize Norton on a Thursday evening (we live about six miles away from Brize), we heard she was going to be taking off flying out and then coming back about an hour later, and so it was. From our vantage point at the Brize end of the runway we heard her engines start up and she finaly taxied into view about ten minutes later, she then taxied onto the runway, and we were directly behind her as the engines spooled up and off she went in a cloud of spray (it had just stopped raining). She arrived back at Brize half an hour later, overflew the airfield and then came back across and turned into finals, once again we were stood by the fence at he end of the runway and on the centreline as she came into land, you could almost count the rivets on her underside as she came in over the top of us, and the noise of those Olympus engine was fantastic, a real adrenaline rush after some sixteen years of waiting for her to return to the sky, I only hope this was not the last time I see her.

Vulcan XH558
Finally got the chance to see her at Southport.
Nobody knew if she was coming, not even the Commentators!! But as the Typhoon was displaying you could see the Vulcan with the thick black trail of smoke behind her.
Then finally to close the show at Southport she did a couple of flybys with the bomb bay door open and for her final pass she came past at full speed, full throttle and the pilots pulled the stick straight up. What a saight, worth the wait!!
