Holly Langley Exhibition at Unity Theatre

holly-langley-unity.jpg It was great to be back on the Thursday night Private Viewing circuit last night. The first one of many this year I hope.
Three viewings last night, it was only going to be 2 but after going to the University Art Gallery then Egg we were on the way home when a passing stranger asked us the way to the Unity. Said he was going to view a friends exhibition so I said, 'Oh, Holly Langley must be having a PV, we'll come along'.

It was a bit late, they were just leaving but Holly kindly showed us round. Its in the usual areas, the first floor corridors and bar area and a few small pictures on the top floor.

Holly's roots come from South London but she grew up in the Lake District. Holly began to study art whilst at Lancaster Art College and has just completed a degree in Set and Lighting Design in Liverpool.

She obviously likes to experiment with colour and materials, look out for the painted guitar hanging in the bar and the driftwood sculpture. Most of her canvases are bright abstracts but a large recent one has more pastel shades painted using an air brush.

I like her idea of displaying photographs of details of some of the works in small frames often some distance from the original so you often don't even realise they are linked.

Glad I got to see this, I'm really annoyed with myself for missing the last couple of exhibitions at Unity by Alex Wolkowicz and Diana Krilova.
