TV STAR BURNS FILES CIVIL RIGHTS SUIT AGAINST NEW YORK CITY

American TV star ERIC BURNS has filed suit against the city of New York after he was allegedly attacked by a police officer outside a nightclub.
Burns, who has a recurring role in long-running soap opera All My Children, claims he was punched in the face by a policeman and attacked by several other officers on 31 August (08) outside a nightspot in the Chelsea district.
In the notice filed against the city last Friday (28Nov08), the actor claims he was trying to make peace after his brother and a friend got into a scuffle as they left the Mansion nightclub.
Burns says his civil rights were violated, reports the New York Post.
The 31-year-old was charged with felony assault on an officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
He was freed on his own recognisance.
