The Queen Victoria Monument is situated on the corner of Lord Street and Castle Street, and stands on the site once occupied by the Liverpool Castle. The Castle was demolished in 1725 and replaced by St George’s Church. The church was subsequently demolished in 1889. The monument is decorated with sculpture of the highest quality. The lower figures represent agriculture, commerce, education and industry while the upper ones represent wisdom, justice, charity and peace.
