writing on the wall website

DJC Design was commissioned by the trustees to re-develop the festival's website. Writing on the Wall (WoW) is an annual programme of writing-related events culminating in an annual festival. WoW is one of the major cultural events funded and supported by the Liverpool Culture Company, in the run up to the 2008 Capital of Culture activities.

The requirements for the site included an easy to use content management system, which would enable administrators to edit and update the site themselves. The site also is to be as accessible as possible. DJC Design achieved this using the CMS called ModX and provided comprehensive documentation and training to the Writing on the Wall staff responsible for the site. Other functions of the site include an easily updated image gallery, a subscription form for their mailing list and a dynamic calendar highlighting forthcoming events.

“Our original website had been developed piecemeal over a number of years so it lacked cohesive design and was impossible to update. Visually it also failed to reflect the vibrancy and energy of the events we stage throughout the year. We commissioned DJC Design because they have a good track record in developing accessible but eye catching websites.”
Stuart Borthwick, Writing on the Wall Trustee
