I remember, as a young child some 20-odd years ago, being snowed in and having to stay off school.
It was all very exciting, with family adventures out into the two-metre drifts that lined roadsides and hedgerows. Sledging, snowmen, it was wonderful...
We haven't seen a snowfall to match those of my childhood for many years now. The most we've had is a brief flurry of the white stuff, which has always been gone by morning. Perhaps the only snow my grandchildren will see in Herefordshire is that contained in the family photo albums.
