Biolustre Hair Gloss

Before Biolustre My hair is baby fine and tightly curled, with a frizziness that can only be tamed by products for about half an hour! I used to have silky, curly hair with a bit of swing in it when I was younger, but regular use of colourants has taken its toll on my hair, leaving it lacking body and lustre. I read about Biolustre while searching for keratin products, having read somewhere that keratin is the part of the hair cuticle responsible for a hard smooth surface - it is lost when chemicals such as hair colour, bleach and perming solutions are applied. I thought that if I could replace it then all would be well. Close-up

My visit to the salon was great. I was cared for and everything was explained clearly by Zoë, one of the senior stylists. I asked all about doing the treatment at home, so now I will describe what happened and I have added tips for doing it at home.

My hair was first washed with exfoliating shampoo to strip out any remaining stylng products, towel dried and then combed through. Next Biolustre Rescue Treatment was applied as follows:

Put on gloves
Using a palette brush of the kind usually used to apply colour. Divide hair into sections:
- Part hair at back in middle
- Part each half into a quarter section
- Work on each section making sure other hair is held out of the way, clips are useful and you may find it easier if you get a little help from a friend
Apply to ends of hair only, on hair that is damaged. Leave at least an inch (2.5 cm) from the scalp. Then secure the section in a flat clip and move onto the next quarter section.
When all four sections are done on the first side, divide the second side of your hair into four, apply lotion then work the other side in exactly the same way.
Once the hair is covered it needs to be dried by a hair dryer until dry and rock solid. An ideal purchase to make this work is a hairdryer hood converter.
When the hair is completely dry it feels like it has been set with super glue and is quite scary. Be very careful not to bend it as the hair is quite brittle at this stage and can break off.
Remove the clips and start to rinse with water which is as hot as you can tolerate. The hair begins to soften with the heat of the water.
Apply Exfoliating Shampoo and rinse, doing this three times in a row. Your hair will feel horrible and rough until all the excess keratin is out. Once your hair starts to separate and can be lathered up, rinse and apply Biolustre Daily Conditioning Sealant.
Dry with a hair dryer as usual and tong or straighten with heat if needed. A hot brush works well too.

The result? My hair felt great, it was silky and much shinier, and even better when I washed it a couple more times. Everyone suddenly noticed the difference, especially when hot brushed - it felt wonderful! I am completely convinced that this product is great and that my hair has never looked in better condition. The plus side of course is that the treatment is almost permanent; it will take up to 6 colours or 6 perms before the condition is as poor as it was before you applied it. Then you just apply again. The home kit contains enough product for two applications on shoulder length hair and the daily shampoo and conditioning sealant can be used just weekly and will last ages. The conditioning sealant makes a great pre-styling mist if diluted 1:10 with warm water into a spray bottle, and spritzed onto towel dried hair.
