Spotlights Submit SAC Spotlight Story “I can only attend classes on campus two days a week for about two hours in the early morning in order to be able to comply with an evening work schedule, home obligations and my children’s school schedule,” expressed SAC business major
Avryl G. Rahim. “Online classes are such a convenience for me as I can study whenever I am available.”
The new Online Associate’s Degree Program gives students the opportunity to
complete most of their coursework outside the traditional classroom via the World Wide Web. Depending on the professor, some courses may require students to meet on campus for a class orientation at the beginning of the semester and for exams. Students communicate with their instructor electronically via e-mail, a listserv or through the course Web site. Learning takes place through a variety of tactics including assigned reading, electronic lectures and assignments,
e-mail discussion, research, and instructor feedback. Professors are available in person or through e-mail to provide additional information or explanations and to answer any questions, during designated office hours.
Students who choose to enroll in online courses should be aware that it is up to them to stay on track. Since students don’t meet on campus, they must be extremely organized and somewhat Internet savvy. Doing so will only help them complete the class and move on to their next endeavor.
