Toby at home
I am a Sheffield-based artist working predominantly in acrylics. I use a range of styles, from pure abstract to more conventional landscape paintings.
I take my inspiration from many sources (sometimes a landscape, sometimes a simple colour combination or shape), and often let the painting process dictate how the finished work turns out, rather than planning what I want it to look like. I have tried not to be restricted by a single style, and I like to think that no one of my paintings would be representative of the entirety of my work.
A selection of my work is presented here, arranged into Galleries of similar styles.
The majority of my paintings are for sale (unless indicated otherwise).
Prices are roughly in the range £150-£500.
I welcome any enquiries:

Working in the studio
Tiger Sky
February 2008, 76x61cm, Acrylic on canvas
In July 2007, I completed all the paintings I had been working on, and made a point of not starting new ones, so that I would not have any waiting to be completed when I was otherwise occupied with my new baby, due in early August.
It was a beautiful day and I was outside enjoying the sunshine. The sky was such an incredible blue that I felt compelled to paint it - the swirling pattern includes the yellow and high contrast of the sunshine in the garden. I brought a canvas outside and painted it flat on the lawn. There was blue paint on the grass for weeks.
Of course, when my son was born, I did leave the painting, and it was six months before I could complete it.
This painting can be found in the Flowing Abstracts gallery.
