Outpatient Therapy Clinic
The Child Study Center's Outpatient Therapy Clinic serves the entire state of Arkansas. Over 1,000 new patients are referred each year, with approximately 70% residing in the Greater Little Rock area. Patients are typically referred directly for initial assessment, which consists of clinical interviews, mental status exams, and reviews of existing evaluation or historical data. Based on this assessment, appropriate referrals are made for psychological evaluations and subsequent treatment plan recommendations, or treatment is initiated. Consultation from a child psychiatrist, psychiatric social worker, or other mental health specialist is available as needed.
The Outpatient Clinic serves children, adolescents and families, which represent the full range of disorders and problem areas referred to a child psychiatry service. Treatment modalities include individual, group, and family therapy. Play therapy and other techniques are routinely used.
