PGY - 4
Post Graduate Year Four
Senior residents have the opportunity to design their own program within the parameters of the available sites. Each resident arranges with faculty members the areas on which he or she wants to focus and the amount of time spent in each area. In addition, each resident spends one half day per week in the adult psychiatric clinic with long-term treatment patients.
PGY IV’s participate in the board preparation didactics series. In this course, they practice for the oral board exam with faculty who are board certified and with some who are examiners. The residents also participate in a continuing case conference led by various faculty members.
During this year, residents prepare a scholarly paper based on interest, personal research and/or case studies from the resident experience. The paper is presented at a Grand Rounds session. (See block diagram below).
