University Hospital Division Programs & Services

UAMS Psychiatry offers assessment & diagnostic treatment for typical disorders such as personality, mood, behavior, eating or psychotic disorders.

Our clinicians have an interest in grief, divorce, relationships, trauma, stress & life adjustment counseling.

As a teaching facility, we are always on the cutting edge of diagnoses & treatments. Quality of life is tremendously improved when a mental health problem is diagnosed early & treated appropriately.

Left untreated, mental illness can be just as or more serious than heart disease & cancer.

Out outpatient mental healthcare is comprehensive, as we are affiliated with research & specialty groups that give us a broad base of expertise within the department. For instance, the Department of Psychiatry's research group is one of the largest of its kind in the nation & implements a "Net Outcomes Assessment," which is a formulation for tracking the progress of the patient's outcome after treatment.
