UAMS is making a difference in the lives of Arkansans throughout the state every day, thanks to the Area Health Education Centers, which provide patient care and act as training sites for students in medicine, nursing, pharmacy and allied health professions, as well as medical residents specializing in family practice. UAMS also serves communities around the state through Kids First, a network of day programs for children with serious health and developmental needs. Another UAMS early intervention effort is UAMS Head Start in Pulaski County, serving more than 1,000 children at over 30 neighborhood centers. UAMS’ Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging has several satellite offices around the state, guaranteeing quality health care for the state’s older population.
