Turn off the computer! Step away from the television! Head for the out-of-doors!

The evidence is growing: Americans spend less and less time outdoors in Nature. That's why, during Earth Science Week, we are encouraging everyone to step outside and enjoy the natural beauty and wonder of our amazing planet.

Scientists at the USGS explore the out-of-doors, studying the earth and biological resources of our natural surroundings and discovering, more and more, the way our planet operates. The more we learn, the more our science contributes to the health, safety, well-being, and economic vitality of our people and our Nation. To learn about where USGS science is headed in the next decade, see http://www.usgs.gov/science_strategy/

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is proud to partner with the American Geological Institute and its member societies in sponsoring this annual international event. We invite you to explore this USGS Earth Science Week Web site and learn about special activities in your state and sites to visit in your area.

Let's join together to celebrate Earth Science Week and have No Child Left Inside!
