- American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
- AAP is an organization of over 50,000 pediatricians. Their site offers information on books, videos and other materials which can be ordered, back issues of their Healthy Kids magazine, and a useful chart showing the recommended childhood immunization schedule.
- American Journal of Ophthalmology
- This site features a searchable database of abstracts from articles in current and past issues of the American Journal of Ophthalmology, including topics about latest advances in ophthalmic surgical techniques or recent research findings. A one-time registration is required, but access is free.
- American Medical Association (AMA)
- This site offers the AMA Physician Select service with which you can search for doctors by specialty, name and location. It will tell you where the doctors went to medical school, where they did their residencies and whether they're board-certified in their specialties. Their AMA Reference Library offers information on some medical issues, support resources, and a good set of links to other sites featuring information on a wide variety of medical conditions and illnesses.
- America's HouseCall Network
- This site has information on medications, common ailments, conditions and diseases, etc. Their home page offers a picture of a stereotypical librarian to whom you can pose questions - just a gentle way of encouraging you to search their extensive database of medical information and articles.
- Center for Disease Control (CDC)
- This site has various publications (e.g. child care, chronic diseases, etc.), information on diseases, health risks and prevention guidelines, as well as much scientific data (i.e. birth defects, infectious diseases).
- Collection of Eye Diseases and Anomalies
- This document, written by Virginia Bishop and featured on the Special Ed Exchange (SpedEx) site, is designed to be a rapid reference for Teachers of the Visually Impaired who may need a rapid reference for consultative and interpretive purposes.
- Eyenet
- This site, sponsored by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, offers information about eye health and eye conditions and diseases. It also offers a Find an Ophthalmologist service through which you can locate a doctor by city, state and specialty. You can also search based on name. The search results include their practice focus, hospital privileges, education, residency, fellowship, teaching position, and certification.

- This purpose of this non-profit organization is to see that everything possible is done for people who suffer from hereditary eye diseases.
- Glaucoma Foundation
- This site offers much information about glaucoma, including treatment options, new medical developments and assistance in identifying glaucoma specialists. You can also sign up for a packet of free information about glaucoma and their quarterly newsletter, "Eye to Eye."
- Glaucoma Research Foundation
- This site offers information about signs and symptoms of glaucoma, a list of frequently-asked questions (FAQ) about glaucoma, fact sheets, online issues of their free quarterly newsletter "Gleams", and more.
- Information about Eye Conditions and Diseases
- This page, on the Columbia Visual Health & Surgical Center, has information on topics such astigmatism, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachment.
- Leber's Amaurosis
- This page, part of Jim Leeder's site, has information on Leber's Amaurosis, a rare recessive disorder in which children are born with nystagmus (jiggling eyes) and poor vision -- usually very poor and they are essentially blind from birth, although there have been some cases where the vision is not so bad.
- Leber's Links
- This site by Cheryl Marley has a growing number of links about Leber's Congenital Amaurosis. In addition, it offers an international LCA Register, so that people with a family member diagnosed with Leber's can find each other and share information.

- National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation (NOAH)
- This national all-volunteer organization founded in Philadelphia, PA provides information and support to individuals interested in these eye conditions. Their web site provides information on upcoming conferences, articles about these and related eye conditions, as well as several discussion boards for teenagers and adults with Albinism and parents of people with Albinism.
- National Organization for Rare Disorders, Inc. (NORD)
- NORD is a foundation of over a hundred non-profit health organizations serving people with rare disorders and disabilities. Their web site provides the current issue of their newsletters plus information about their chapters, services and programs. It also features a searchable database containing descriptions of rare disorders and disabilities and the organizations that service people with those conditions.
- Nystagmus Network
- This web site is intended to provide support for those with nystagmus and the parents and teachers of children with nystagmus. They offer information about treatments and research, educational considerations, support groups and mailing lists regarding nystagmus, and much more.
- Ocular Surgery News
- This site, while aimed at the medical profession, still is of interest to others as it discusses surgical techniques and outcomes through current and past issues of Ocular Surgery News as well as online seminars.
