- ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education (ERIC EC)
- This site is one of many federally funded clearinghouses in a nationwide information network sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and National Library of Education. It offers literature, information and resources relating to the education and development of persons of all ages who have disabilities and/or who are gifted. Their FAQ's on pros and cons of mainstreaming are particularly useful.You can also search various ERIC and ECER databases containing journal articles, conference proceedings, papers, speeches, research reports, teaching guides and curriculum, and books relating to education.
- Federal Resource Center for Special Education
- This comprehensive site offers links to various federal government programs and private organizations servicing teachers, parents, policymakers, and others concerned with individuals with disabilities. Subject matters include ADA, legal resources, trends and issues in special education, and back issues of their RRFC Network Links newsletter.
- Financial Aid Information Page
- This page provide a huge list of sources for financial aid, including the Heath Resource Center's guide to financial aid for students with disabilities.
- The Mining Company
- This site offers links to other sites about special education and disabilities, broken into over 20 different categories. It also features articles about parenting a child with special needs, associations (on the Internet and otherwise) for special educators and specialists, and upcoming events, to name but a few.
- National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY)
- NICHCY is a project operated with the Office of Special Education Programs within the U.S. Department of Education. This site has fact sheets and briefing papers on many types of disabilities; articles about inclusion, transitioning from high school to the adult world, how to get in contact with parent groups and other resources; and information on upcoming conferences.
- National Rehabilitation Information Center (NARIC)
- This is a library and information center on disability and rehabilitation, funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR). Their site features REHABDATA, a database that contains bibliographic records with abstracts of the materials in the NARIC library. This data covers all aspects of disability and rehabilitation, and includes research reports, books, journal articles, and audiovisual materials. They also offer information about research programs funded by NIDRR and publications available on-line or by mail.
- Our-Kids
- This site is a large collection of information about disabilities, including inspirational poems and articles (such as the well-known "Holland poem"), info on disability-related e-mail mailing lists and web sites, disability-related acronyms, recommended books and more.
- ParentPals
- This site contains a variety of information about special education, including a definition of terms used in special education, the "definitions" of various disabilities, and questions often asked about special education services.
- Scholarship and Financial Aid Resources for students with disabilities
- This is a list of the few scholarships that are specifically designated for students with disabilities.
- Special Needs Education Network (SNE)
- This site is provided by the SchoolNet project, a cooperative initiative of Canada's provincial, territorial, and federal governments. Its intended audience includes parents, teachers, schools, and other professionals, individuals, groups, and organizations involved in the education of students with special needs. Their site features their monthly newsletters, information on upcoming conferences around the U.S. and Canada and instructions for joining their e-mail discussion groups.
- Yahoo's Education Links
- Yahoo is a very popular search engine, and one of the most effective at organizing their vast amounts of information. This page presents all of their education-related links broken by category, including Educational Standards and Testing, Educational Theory and Methods, K-12, Language Education, Math and Science Education, and Special Education.
