Become a W3C Supporter! — Complete the Application

W3C operations are primarily financed through Membership dues (see also information about W3C Membership). Through the W3C Supporters Program, Members and non-Members alike make general contributions, both financial and of goods such as software and hardware, to help support W3C's operations. Though W3C appreciates the support of these contributors, this should not be considered an endorsement of any products, services, or other materials they may provide.

Interested in becoming a W3C Supporter? See more about the Supporters program below, including frequently asked questions (FAQ). A version of this page with more Supporter details is available.

About the Supporters Program

W3C thanks the individuals and organizations listed on this page who have made contributions to the Consortium. Supporters are acknowledged on this page and may use the W3C Supporter Logos. W3C also welcomes smaller donations of less than a value of 100 USD, although there is no associated acknowledgment on the W3C Web site or corresponding Supporter logo.

If you have any questions about the W3C Supporters Program, Supporters Program Policy, or Application, please contact W3C at <supporters@w3.org>.

Please note that this program is not about W3C offering software or other technical support. If you have questions about a W3C technology or W3C generally, please consult the list of W3C FAQs or the home page of a W3C Activity.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. How do I become a W3C Supporter?
Complete the Supporters Application. Alternatively, you can make an anonymous donation of any amount to support W3C operations.
2. What value contribution is required to be listed here?
  • Premier Supporters have made a contribution of ≥ 10000 USD (or equivalent in another currency).
  • Major Supporters have made a contribution of 2500 - 9999 USD (or equivalent in another currency). Note: This is the value as of 22 September 2008, increased from $1000 USD.
  • Contributing Supporters have made a contribution of 100 - 2499 USD (or equivalent in another currency).
Yes. Premier and Major W3C Supporters may have links to their sites from this page.
4. For how long can I have a link on this page?
For one year from receipt of your contribution, renewable at the end of that year. See the the Supporters Program Policy for more information.
No, but you can renew as long as you would like.
6. Will the link from the Supporters page improve my ranking by search engines?
W3C makes no assurances that sites linked from the Supporters program will see improved ranking in search engine results. W3C instructs search engines to ignore links from the Supporters page.
No. At the current time, we are not offering a link from the W3C Home Page as part of the Supporters program. W3C Members can participate in the Member Testimonials Program, which allows them to display a logo on the W3C Home Page and link from there to their own site; testimonials circulate on a frequent basis. More information about joining W3C is available.
8. I'd like to give N software licenses worth $3500 to W3C. Does that mean I will automatically be a Major Supporter?
No. The W3C staff does accept contributions of software licenses (see our wishlist), but only for software that we plan to use. The valuation (and thus level of support) of any contribution of licenses is based on the actual number of licenses the W3C staff plans to use. Please note that we do not accept licenses for non-staff as part of this program.

Wishlist

Interested in donating goods such as hardware, software, designs or other items to W3C? Before you do, please consult this wishlist, which prioritizes those items that would most benefit W3C at the current time. You may propose to W3C to donate goods that do not appear on this list, but please note that W3C may choose not to accept them. In this case, we recommend that you consider a financial donation instead.

In general:

W3C is currently building a wishlist.
